3rd person pov:
luffy pouted, walking around, scouting an area where he can rest. maybe for a night. maybe he'll linger to them and beg them to let him stay. maybe he'll sleep on the streets again. or maybe, just maybe, a super rich sugar daddy comes along and takes luffy with him.

of course that doesnt happen.

see, luffy and his brothers got separated when they were young. they were 10 and luffy was 7. they were playing and this man in all black came up to luffy. he asked want candy? luffy's mouth watered and agreed instantly. in the truck, the men were saying how he got the wrong boy and you were supposed to take the blonde haired one or whatever.

then.. the men left luffy in a town and left. didnt even give luffy one piece of candy. after spending ten minutes being upset, he realized that he doesnt know where he is, what to do, how to survive, anything.

where are sabo and ace??

then he found this man named "shanks" and they  became luffy's best friend. shanks took him in, life was great. luffy told shanks all about his brothers, his adoptive mother, dadan, his gramps who was on a military mission and couldnt come home to take care of luffy right now, garp.

then he met uta.

they clicked instantly. suddenly luffy had two best friends. shanks and uta! no no, scratch that. he has four best friends! shanks, uta, sabo and ace! how could luffy forget about his brothers?

luffy asked shanks, "why didnt i see uta before? ive known you for two months now!"

shanks let out a breathless chuckle and said, "uta goes to a private singing school. she comes home from time to time."

"whatt??? thats so cool! i want to go to a private school! say, is there a martial arts private school? id be number one!"

luffy looked at his house. or rather what used to be his house. now burnt to the ground, there were nothing but ash. his head was spinning. he swear, he went out to buy some fish, as shanks requested. before luffy left, shanks gave luffy his strawhat, his treasure. told luffy not to loose it since the wind was strong. luffy hopped around, happily humming while finding the best fish there were. then he came home to..

wheres shanks? wheres uta?

luffy panicked. he felt tears prickle at his eyes. no. shanks would wait for him, surely. if something bad happened, shanks wouldnt leave him behind, would he?

luffy was about to ask an adult when he saw the wanted poster. well, luffy couldnt read that it was a wanted poster, but shank's face was on it. below it had some numbers..

fuck.

he had thought that shanks was famous and had such high salary! he didnt think it was a bad thing, so he didnt tell shanks. he thought they were going to celebrate shanks because how awesome he is. luffy really thought that it wasnt bad. but apparently it is bad.

luffy cried. he couldnt help it. ace always told him to stop being a cry baby and grow up, but he couldnt stop it. what would ace do if he were in this situation? shrug and walk away? surely not. what if instead of shanks, it was luffy? that luffy got captured? would ace still shrug and walk away? would ace cry too?

some people nearby saw him and "adopted" him, saying theyve always wanted a kid. but then luffy start getting bad grades and reports through middle school and high school and the parents dont want a failure anymore. saying that they "only took him in because they felt pity". saying luffy was too loud anyway. saying luffy was weird and stupid. saying..-

even though luffy left that house with a "fuck you!", that still hurts a lot more than he thought.

for weeks, his mind was clouded with "failure!" and other horrible things he didnt want to remember again. all he wanted was to be safe in a house, with someone caring.

uh.. i finished the prologue</3 its so bad i sincerely apologize🥲this is writing practice for me but im not doing grammar right and i didnt proof read it and.. its a mess.

i hope you enjoyed though!! i have something for the plot in mind but its not all plotted out. honestly i thought "school au!" and then "how did luffy get his hat?" and now its this. hopefully it made sense.
