T E S S A ' S P. O. V"Kalen! Hurry up!" I hear his elephant like footsteps boom, as he clambers up the steep stairs of our new home. We only moved in a week ago, so mass boxes invade our house.
He curses, probably tripping up over one as he sprints to reach me. I'm in our new bathroom which conjoins to our bedroom.
It's beautiful with a deluxe double shower and a marble sink which allows the water to caddie down. I'm sat perched on the edge of the toilet seat that's yet to be installed.
The test I just took rests on the sink counter and I've been too scared to look.
The only reason I took it was because Kiara suggested my symptoms are something more than just a stomach bug, and she's been through this before, so I guess she would know.
I dug through a lifetime's worth of crap to find one I knew I purchased ages ago. It's still in date thankfully and I pissed all over it in the downstairs bathroom, then texted my husband because I realised how utterly terrifying this whole thing was.
He decided to sprint from the beach rather than take the bus. In his words, he's faster, but I don't need Usain Bolt as my husband, I just need him here in one piece.
"Tess I'm here! I'm here, I'm fucking here. Where is it?" I gesture to the singular test still perching on the sink edge. "You've not looked?"
"I told you I was waiting for you. I'm scared." I admit.
My husband grabs my hands, gently pulling me up. His hand rests on my stomach, even though there might not be a baby in there. "I'm with you. Every step of the way. Baby or not, we're going to be fine."
"I really want this. If I'm not pregnant, do you think we could..."
"Hell yeah baby, I've been ready to start a family with you for a long time." He smiles, reaching for the test. Our eyes fall on the result at the same time.
Positive. Holy fuck. Shit. Oh my...
I clutch frantically at my nonexistent bump. The tests says five weeks, so obviously I'd be barely visible but, there's something in there. A concoction of me and him, our love synergies within the growing baby.
"Tess, we're gonna have a baby." He's crying. I'm crying. Fuck, we're both complete wrecks already.
He kisses me desperately, trying to pull off my shirt. I want nothing more than for my husband to fuck me, I crave that intimate closeness I would only ever have with him, but someone else needs to know first.
"Kiara," I mumble. He jerks away.
"Baby, maybe don't say my sister's name whilst I've got an erection,"
I laugh. "No, I need to tell her."
"Now? We just found out."
"I was with her when she did, she would want to know first and I need her to know. It's a weird best friend thing."
"Okay, send her my love, and then get back into our bedroom so I can fuck my baby mama senseless." He taps my ass lightly, pushing me towards the door.
"Don't ever, call me that again Kalen Romano."
"Okay, Tessa Romano." I love my married name and he exploits it to no end.
The phone only rings twice until she answers it. "Well? Did my brother manage to knock you up?"
"Yep, I'm having a baby!"
"Fuck yeah!!!" She screams down the end of the receiver. I can imagine her pounding her fists into the air, jumping around the kitchen. "Guess what Stasia, you're gonna have a baby cousin."
