"Hey, Y/N," Tettsu threw his arm around your shoulders, a grin on his lips. "I got you a present."

You quirked a curious brow at him. "Oh? And what do you want in return for this gift?"

"You wound me," he pouted, resting his hand over his heart. "Can't I give my best friend a gift without any strings attached?"

"No," you replied at the same time as Dan who said, "Not a chance."

Tettsu scowled over his shoulder at the male. "Hey, this is a private conversation."

"Then maybe don't have it in the middle of the diner," he deadpanned, making Naomi chuckle.

"Just tell me what you want, Tettsu." You shoved his arm away, sending him a look. "Or at least tell me what the gift is so I can decide if I care or not."

"Okay fine. It's -" he paused, glancing around the diner. He seemed to consider something for a moment before he grabbed your arm, dragging you from the diner.

"Oi, I was about to order food!"

"No way will Naomi-chan be okay with this." He shook his head, stopping in front of you. "I found this Halloween store downtown. I was waiting on Chiharu so I decided I'd check it out and I found this book. It's some kind of demonology spellbook, I think."

Your ears perked up at that and you leaned toward him. "Really? Where is it?"

"I didn't want to bring it to the diner so I left it at home."

"Let's go get it!" You grinned, starting toward his home but he grabbed the back of your shirt, tugging you back toward him.

"Hold it. We haven't talked about payment."

You scowled at him. "I knew it."

"Don't worry, I'll give you the bestie discount."

"Don't ever say that again."

He held his hand up, fingers spread. "Buy me ramen for five weeks -"

"Go to hell," you scoffed, turning around with the intention to reenter the diner but he grabbed your shoulder.

"You're so stingy! Fine, five days of ramen."

You considered it for a moment, humming thoughtfully. "Okay, call."

Tettsu grinned and the two of you headed to his place. You chose to wait outside, knowing his family would try and strike up a conversation with you about how you've been. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing and you adored his family, but those conversations tended to last ages. And right now, you just wanted to get that book in your hands and read it.

If someone asked you when your interest in demons started, you wouldn't be able to give an answer. Tettsu would say that you've had an interest in them since birth and you can't really deny that. For as long as you can remember, it's always been a subject of intrigue. You're not religious though, so you don't view them as satanic beings that worship some firey overlord. To you, they just seemed like another race trying to survive. Well, assuming they actually existed. You have yet to meet one.
