Life has a funny way of hitting you with unexpected twists...some heartbreaking and some actually but more times than not, fate has us laughing at our own frailty.

Broken glass, blood and tears, with a touch of maniacal laughter, a scene no one expected to see that Saturday.

It hadn't even been a month since he finally took his life into his own hands and shed himself of his shackles called family, crashed with a friend and got a new job, slowly starting to build a life for himself on his terms. The possibility of a new life, new experiences and new freedom was pure bliss to him, each day bringing him a new job from eating pizza again for the first time in years or a passionate exchange with a woman.

Who would have known that fate would have been so cruel as to take this away from him as soon as he got a taste of it?

Meanwhile away from our story, in a dimension far away from ours the mother of fate sneezed, feeling almost as if someone was talking smack behind her back....

Moving back to our main story.

The broken and bloody man lay on the hot pavement, recalling his life, his laughs, his cries, his loves and losses, weighing his options at a million miles an hour; if he lived he would be a burden to those around him and thats assuming he could heal up after this and who knows how long that could take, a burden to his friends and most of all to his girlfriend...who he fawned over and persued for years online until he was able to meet with her in person, she finally gave him a yes, making him truly feel like he conquered fate.

The emotions running through his mind were racing at light speed but in essence were a mix of anger, regret and sadness.

Anger at the person who ran him over just now

Regret for he knew he would possibly die soon, feeling himself growing weaker, the regret of all he couldn't accomplish were starting to swamp him, leaving his friends and lover behind, who he was planning on surprising with a ring next week.

Sadness at the mere fact that he still felt he had more to do, change his life even more and prove to himself and everyone else that he could overcome all his past inhibitions but now his emotions converged and became one new emotion.

Rage.

The dreams he could never bring to life, shattered as easily as they were created. He cursed himself for being stupid enough to not be more careful when crossing the street, even though that car really came out of no where, he cursed fate, he cursed the higher beings looking down on him that decided to take away his new found happiness and freedom.

As he felt his conscience fade he let out a blood curdling, hearty laugh at his frailness and with a tear he apologized inwardly to those he would be leaving behind.

"Maybe the next one will be better."
