I was awaken by the flight attendant speaking on the intercom. "We have arrived in Baltimore Maryland. We thank you for choosing South West Airlines and it was a pleasure to be you traveling choice. Have a great day, and come again." My heart jumped out of my chest when I heard the women talk. Then I realized this is it. I'm starting my life over with my dad. God I don't know what to do. I haven't seen him in forever. We have just a few more minutes till we actually land and can get of the plane so I just stopped my music and packed up what was just my phone and earplugs.
I took a few breaths and thought about how this was gonna go. I just started thinking about what to expect. I mean I've talked to him a few times on the phone but we never talked much about him, it was really more about me. I'm hoping this is gonna be a good experience. I just hope that I can make friends, and school go's well. If this is good and I'm happy I might be up north for the rest of my life as a child. Once I'm 18 though I hope to be independent and can do what I want and enjoy my life by myself. All these thoughts kept me occupied for the rest of the time on the plane it was time to go in a matter of what felt like 30 seconds.
"Once again thank you for choosing South West Airlines, and have a great day!" I stood up to get my things out of the overhead cabin and got off the plane. I took a few deep breaths. "This is gonna be a good thing." I told myself with confidence. I saw the doors that I would walk through and find my father and I felt surprisingly happy and extremely excited. So I took one last breath closed my eyes and walked out off the terminal to meet my new life.
"Theresa!?" I heard my name being called and I looked around and saw my father. I dropped my suitcase handle without hesitation and ran to my dad and jumped into his arms. He hugged me for the longest time. It felt so good to be in the arms of my dad even after so long. I didn't want that hug to end but after about a minute it was time to let go. "Baby girl! I missed you so much! How are you?" He asked relising me and walking over to get my stuff that I stupidly dropped. "I missed you too! I'm great and so happy to see you! It's been forever." I said while laughing and trying to hold back the tears of joy. "I know sweetie. I'm just glad your here now, thats all that matters." He said as he picked up my things and put his arm around me. We just laughed with each other for a minute. "So what do you want to do first? We could go shopping, or bowling, go out to eat. Whatever you want." He threw in a few giggles so I thought he was playing and I started to laugh even more. "No Tess, I'm serious." I looked at him and smiled. "Really?" I laughed. "Yeah. I want you to have fun up here so I don't scare you away." We laughed some more. "Okay. Can we start by getting home and unpacked?" "Absolutely!" He looked a little surprised, but he went with it. "Yay!" I said as we walked out of the main exit to find the car. We were finally able to stop laughing about the dumbest things and we walked the rest of the way in quite. I was thinking to myself. That this is so far the best day I've had in a long time. Being with my dad is not gonna be to bad. This is a great thing.
