An Inconvenient Flame (Dabi x Female Y/N)

Chapter Thirteen: Date?

Dabi gets up and walks to the door. You can hear him groan in annoyance as he looks through the peephole.

"What's wrong?" you ask as he opens the door and James is standing on the other side. He stares at Dabi in shock.

"You're here? Where's Y/N?" James asks while looking past him to try and find you. You get up and walk to the door and gently push Dabi out of the way.

"Hi, James, what's up?" you ask with a smile but James takes his gaze from you to Dabi, who's glaring a hole through James' head. In return James glares back at him. You almost choke on the tension in the air.

"So you're the prick who got her pregnant and decided to cheat?!" he yells while clenching his hands into fists. Dabi just stares at him confused then looks at you and back to James.

"What the hell are you talking about? I didn't cheat?" he says, trying to stay calm but you can feel the anger rising in his tone. Just then, James punches Dabi square in the nose, causing it to gush out blood. Dabi wipes some blood from his nose with a sick smile on his face then he grabs James' shirt and throws him to the floor.

"Guys! Knock it off!" you yell while shoving Dabi away.

"You're lucky I have a reason to not go to jail," Dabi says with a hiss in his tone before walking to the kitchen and putting a tissue over his nose. James rolls his eyes and gets to his feet.

"James, he made it up to me for one and two why are you here?" you say while pulling him into your apartment and closing the door.

"My bad I guess and Abby wanted me to kidnap you for the day," he says while rubbing his shoulder as Dabi walks up behind you and snakes his arms around your waist, glaring at James.

"That's sweet of her but why?" you ask as James looks around at the baby supplies.

"She wants to see you since she hasn't in a while and she's worried about you, as am I. You can come too, dickwad," he says while locking eyes with Dabi who just smiles at him with dead eyes.

"We'd love to join but we're busy. Please take your leave now," Dabi says before you step on his foot, causing his grip to tighten around out.

"Ignore him, we're not busy at all, we would love to join you two for dinner, and I apologize for Dabi's behavior," you say with a smile on your face. Dabi buries his face in the crook of your neck.

"Of course, and don't worry 'Dabi' you don't have to join, I won't be mad," James says in a teasing tone. You roll your eyes as Dabi lifts his head slightly from your neck and glares at him.

"Did I say you can talk to me?" he hisses out, making you cover his mouth with your hands.

"Ignore him again, thank you, James what time do you want us there and where?" you ask as you put Dabis head back on your neck.

"Olive Garden, 7 o'clock," he says while walking to the door. As you try to squirm away, Dabi tightens his grip around you.

"Pardon me, sir, I have to say goodbye to my friend," you say while squirming out of his grip and walking to the door with James. As soon as you open the door for James, he pulls you outside with him and closes the door.

"Are you sure about him? Are you sure he's not going to hurt you? Are you sure he's not going to use you and he means it?" he says with concern written all over his face. You nod your head in response.

"I'm sure and if I'm wrong, that's on me but I think he means it," you give him a soft smile and James gives you a big hug before leaving. Once you walk back into your apartment, Dabi pins you to the door. You give him a startled look that quickly turns into a smile once you see the pout that's on his lips.

"Poor baby," you tease before ruffling his hair, causing him to nuzzle into your hand. He then grabs your hand and kisses your palm. Your cheeks flush as he smiles against your palm.

"Please let me kill him," he says while keeping his eyes locked on yours while he kisses the back of your hand.

"O- no!" you pull your hand away and roll your eyes. I can't believe I almost said yes- you thought to yourself as you walked to your bedroom.

(AN: does he mean it? And if he does, will James ever approve of it? Will their ongoing battle never come to an end? How will dinner go? Time will tell.)
