Max
Today was the day I thought that never come. I really didn't want to go but I wanted to see him one last time. Everyone came. I saw Lucas's casket and I walked towards him. I put my hand on the casket. Lucas's parents approached me.
Mrs Sinclair - "Hey Max, how are you holding up?"
Max - "I don't think I'll ever be the same again now that he's gone."
All 3 of us hugged. After everyone spoke on the podium, it was finally my turn.
Max - "Hello everyone. I know most of you don't know me. My name is Max Mayfield and I was Lucas's girlfriend. I didn't a lot about Lucas but I did notice how nice of a person he was and how considerate he would be to others. I - When I first moved to Hawkins, I didn't want anything to do with it. I wanted to move back to California but when I first met Lucas, he showed me that it wasn't that bad. He was the one that made me feel like me in Hawkins and now that he's gone, I don't think I'll ever be the same without him again."
I look over at his casket and I started to cry.
Max - "Lucas, we'll all miss you and love you. I'll always love you and I hope we'll see you again one day."
After the funeral, we all gathered at Lucas's house. I was upstairs in Lucas's room laying on his bed, crying.
(Knocking)
Max - "Come in."
Mrs Sinclair - "Hey honey. How are you doing?"
I just shook my head.
Mrs Sinclair - "I found this in the basement. I didn't open it. If you want to read it now, I'll leave."
Max - "Okay."
Mrs Sinclair - "Okay."
Mrs Sinclair cupped my face. We both smiled. She left the room. It was the letter Lucas wrote each of us. I didn't open it yet. I took a deep breath and I finally opened it and began to read.
"Dear Max,
I know things between us have been rough lately. I broke up with you because I couldn't live with my guilt and that guilt lead me to my death. I'm so sorry, Max. I wish I could go back to all good times I had with you, I really do. You were the best part of life and my biggest mistake was letting you go. I promise to watch over you and the rest of our friends and I want you to promise me something, too. Promise me you'll move on and find someone else. Keep your heart open.
Love always, Lucas"
After reading the letter, I continued to cry.
Max - (Whispering) "I promise. I promise, Lucas."
