Chapter 27

Tadashi and Kitiara ended up getting a Poke bowl, and were sitting on a bench under the tree's shade. "Mmm, I'm really glad you recommended this, it's delicious!" said Tadashi. Kitiara chuckled slightly, "I'm glad you liked it. One of my other cousins introduced me to this dish, and it was just so good. I'm glad they had it here so you could try it." she said. They both ate in a comfortable silence, Tadashi looked over at Kitiara and smiled to himself slightly. "I believe it's your turn to pick now," he said. Kitiara looked up from her bowl and looked around, thinking. " I did have a place in mind." she said, still staring ahead. Tadashi looked at her, "Sure, what booth was it?" he asked. "It's not exactly a booth, it's a place. A special place that I wanted to visit." she said slowly looking up at Tadashi. He stared at her for a moment and then looked ahead, "Then what are we waiting for?" he said, smiling slightly. Kitiara smiled and quickly finished her bowl.

They were walking through the festival, Kitiara looking around for a specific path. "It should be around here somewhere." she said. "What are we looking for?" asked Tadashi. "A small dirt path. There!" she said and quickly walked towards it. "Aha! I knew it was here, come on!" she said and started walking down the path. "Wait! Kitiara!" shouted Tadashi, but Kitiara was too far to hear him. He quickly went down the path, and tried to catch up to her, after passing through some bushes he emerged into a clearing. There sat a slightly older cherry blossom tree, and under it was a stone bench. Kitiara made her way over to the tree and touched the bark, she closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. Slowly opening her eyes, she slowly made her way to the stone bench. She ran her hand across the bench before sitting down on it. Tadashi slowly walked up to her, "May I?" he asked politely. Kitiara gave a small smile and gestured to the empty spot next to her. He sat down and looked around, "This is a nice place. How'd you find it?" he asked. Kitiara was silent for a moment, she looked up at the tree, "This was my parents' meeting place. They came here a lot when they were dating, and it's where my dad proposed to my mom. They brought me here like once or twice." she explained.

Tadashi looked at her with sad eyes. "I'm sorry about your parents. I understand the feeling, Hiro and I lost our parents when we were pretty young." he said. "I'm sorry that happened, but at least you had each other to go through it." she said looking down sadly. Tadashi looked at her slightly wide eyed, "Yeah, it wasn't easy, especially since he was a bit too young to understand what was happening. I'm thankful for Aunt Cass for helping us and for taking us in. She's the best." he said with a small smile. Kitiara gave him a tight smile while nodding, "That's great, she's a wonderful woman." she said. There was that look again, that look of loneliness, seeing this hurt Tadashi. Seeing his friend hurt like this, he wanted to do something to show her that she isn't alone. He slowly placed his hand on her shoulder and looked at her, "Kitiara, know that you aren't alone anymore. You have me, Hiro, Aunt Cass, and the rest of the gang that has your back, and we're not going anywhere." he said. Kitiara looked up a bit, but immediately looked down. In a quick motion Tadashi pulled her in a tight embrace, this took Kitiara by complete surprise, and caused her to tense up. "I mean it, Kitiara. You are not alone anymore, and I'm not going anywhere. If you ever need to talk to anyone, I'm here." he said.

Kitiara was still shocked that Tadashi was hugging her. She doesn't remember the last time she was hugged, not even her Uncle hugged her. Slowly she relaxed in the embrace, and slowly lifted her hands and placed them on his back. After a few seconds Tadashi slowly pulled away and looked at Kitiara with a small smile. Kitiara looked up at Tadashi and smiled slightly, she opened her mouth to say something, but was stopped when they heard music coming from the festival. "Um, it looks like it's time for the show, we should start heading back. Um, thanks for accompanying me to this place." she said standing up from the bench. Tadashi followed Kitiara, "Yeah, no problem, and thank you for showing me this place. It was really nice." he said. Kitiara turned her head and bowed her head with a smile.

Exiting the wooded area, the two started making their way towards the stage. "Excuse me? Miss Kitiara!" a voice yelled from behind. Kitiara turned towards the voice and saw a man wearing headphones with a mic ran over to the pair. "Yes? Can I help you." she asked. "Your cousin......Gloria.....needs to.....speak to you!" he said between breaths, he took in a deep breath and stood up straight. "She said it was urgent." Kitiara was concerned about Gloria, hoping nothing bad happened to her. "Take me to her," said Kitiara. All three of them rushed towards the back of the stage. Entering she saw Gloria sitting in a chair and surrounded by people. She pushed her way through the crowd until she reached her cousin. "Gloria! What happened? Are you okay?" Kitiara asked while checking over Gloria. "I'm fine, it's just, I lost my voice a bit. Heh, this is what I get for eating the spiciest chili." she said with a very hoarse voice. Kitiara sighed at her cousin, "Gloria, you know what happens when you eat really spicy foods. It results in you getting very sleepy, a bit nauseous and you lose your voice." she listened. "Hey I thought it would be different this time, but I guessed wrong. On the bright side, I don't feel nauseous. I've been drinking plenty of water." she said while taking a sip from her water bottle. Sighing again Kitara stood up and touched her cousin's forehead, "At least you don't have a fever, but you won't be able to sing in the show. You're gonna have to cancel it." she said sadly. "I don't have to cancel it." said Gloria. Kitiara looked at her questionably, "What do you mean? You're in no condition to sing, and you don't have a backup singer from the looks of it." said Kitiara. 

Gloria giggled the best she could, which resulted in her coughing. After her coughing fit she cleared her throat, "I totally have a backup singer. She has an amazing singing voice." "Okay, then. Where is she?" asked Kitiara. Gloria smiled widely at her. "What?" asked Kitiara. "That she is you Kitiara, you're my backup singer." said Gloria with a sweet smile. It was silent for a moment until Kitiara, eyes slowly widened.
