Chapter 2: The First Encounter

"Aw.. You are rather heartless, don't you agree, Human?" - The demon said

The intimidating aura of the demon was sipping out of my existence and my heart raced as I walked besides Mr.Fraener. And as I was walking, he was staring at me while smuggling so I was determined not to let the demon see my fear. "What are you on, Demon?" I questioned strongly and placed my hands inside my pocket to show that I wasn't afraid of him.

"You finally showed yourself, Human" the demon declared with careless but demanding tone "You are rather unusual for a mere human" the demon adds while slowly walks towards my direction to see my reaction. My heart froze just from seeing him walking "Halt your movement, Demon!" the dragon spoke aggressively and gritting his teeth with anger.

The demon shrugged while walking towards my direction. The demon's footsteps echoed through the whole area filling me with immense fear. I had a bad feeling about him yet I couldn't do anything but to watch his every move. "Oh? What if I don't?" the demon asked sarcastically.

The stench of bloodlust suddenly burst within the area leaving me perplexed "Try me, Demon" the dragon said while staring at the demon furiously; Attempting to keep my composure I remained still even though I'm starting to lose my consciousness because of the bloodlust.

The demon halted it's movements and you can see on his face that he was dismayed "Tsk. Very well. Let's meet again, Human!" the demon spread his wings and flew straight up north where the adventures are located.

I strutted down the ground, feeling stunned about what I had just encountered. I lay on the ground feeling the overwhelming hopelessness and shock. I had mixed emotions; I don't know what this world really is but I know that this world could be abusive, harsh and violent. Not to mention that I pushed Mr.Fraener to moved even though he had no strength left.

Mr.Fraener suddenly fell into the ground and look exhausted of what had happened. Being unable to do anything sucks. that was my thoughts after seeing this weakened dragon stood up for me.

I immediately rushed besides Mr.Fraener and rubbed his body soothingly, trying to apologize "I'm very sorry for not able to do anything, Mr.Fraener" I tried to hold back the emotion in my voice "It's okay, Human" I shook my head disappointedly, letting the sadness consume me and hugging the dragon tightly as I cry. "In my previous life, I was just a nobody. A normal person. I often received criticism because I was lacking. I was expecting my life here would be different, but it seems like loser will always be a loser" I sighed deeply after muttering those words.

Lost in thoughts, I heard a faint word coming from Mr.Fraener "Human" the dragon uttered softly. "Mr.Fraener.." I responded sadly as I frowned. "Do you want power?" He asked calmly as he stared at me.

"What do you mean, Mr.Fraener?!" I jumped up angrily. "Human" he adds. "I don't want to hear anything coming from you!" I slammed my fist onto his body as I already have an idea what he was referring to. "STOP. Sit down, I haven't finished speaking" The dragon roared. "I guess you already have an idea. I'll beat around the bush. You must accept my Dragon soul whether you like it or not." the dragon raised his eyebrows looking at me causing me to slowly sit back down in fear.

reminiscing my first encounter, It's true that his Dragon soul would help me to survive this harsh world however, the cost of it was his own life. "No, Mr.Fraener!" I strongly declined his offer. "So are you saying that you could survive this world with your own effort? You don't even know how to use your magicores" he blurted out.

Thinking about what the dragon said, I was aware of how weak I am, my mind was foggy and I had immense difficulty concentrating enough to even form a thought. I was dreadfully exhausted from the thing that I had just experienced yet I can't seem to relax as he was trying to offer his Dragon soul to me.

"I don't need you to die on me! I will find a better way to become strong!" I vociferously spoke while clinching my fist with anger. "I really don't need that!" While grumbling disappointedly as I shook my head, staring at the floor.

"Human" he spoke in a faint voice. His body suddenly released a steamy air which made me confused of what's happening. "What's happening, Mr.Fraener!?" I asked worriedly. He then tried to stand up with all his might that his muscle could muster but failed as he was weakened to an extent. "I knew it.. I c-can n-no l-longer contain the magicores inside me.. it's destroying my insides; I can no longer stand up" he worriedly spoke.

Analyzing the situation, I know that it was my fault as he tried to protect me from the demon hence, exhausted his strength. But before I can speak, a luminous ball of light suddenly came out from Mr.Fraener's body; It was ascending and suddenly stopped mid-air.

"That's my Dragon soul, please take good care of it" he said to me with a satisfied face. It made me speechless as I stared at him with bleary eyes. His body slowly turned into stone and I can't do nothing but to watch his petrification. I rested my head on his unpetrified body as I started to feel dizzy; before losing my consciousness, I felt strange but natural enough. I then heard a strange voice coming from my head, "sleep, you will feel much better when you wake up"

After several hours of sleeping..

The sound of voices inside my head woke me, and I blinked sleepily as I lifted my head. I inhaled in shock when I saw a dragon statue in front me. I then remember that Mr.Fraener turned into stone. "Where's the Dragon soul?!" I jumped up anxiously and asked myself in a panick manner. I turned my head left, right, and above trying to find the dragon soul but I suddenly heard a voice in my head saying, "Oi, I'm here, Human"
