3 weeks later, when Diana has fully recovered from everything
(Diana's POV)
"JESS, YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND. IT'S EITHER DIANA OR ELSIE. WE HAVE TO LOSE ONE OF THEIR FRIENDSHIPS!" ZEE SAID during a conversation with Jess in her room. "Zee, we have to give up Elsie. Diana is much more of a trustable friend than Elsie!" Jess said with a hint of exasperation in her voice. From outside Zee's room, I heard the conversation when I passed by to go to my locker to get a stack of books from inside, and the first statement (not mentioned) was the last straw. I could not get over Laura still, and I was beginning to question if Zee would be the second Laura I had met.
"Zee, if you seriously want to stop being friends with me, just say it to my face..." I uttered, faltering on the last 6 words as I felt some mysterious feeling rush through me. I held back the tears that were welling up in my eyes, and when Jess came out of Zee's room, I just took off and ran into my room, slamming (and locking) the door shut. That was the last straw for me, and the tears welling up in my eyes rolled down my face onto my red shirt and blue skirt. I knew that once I was in the sanctuary of this place, no one would come and find me, since the last time I vented in my room, I made part of the ceiling and wall of the surrounding area fall off onto the floor. (#TheMinus reference!)
Zee Zatara, are you a wolf in sheep's clothing? I thought as I used my sword to hit the wall hard in my room. Rumble.
I was encased in my own emotions like a doll encased in its box, unable to get out of it or them unless something was done by another someone or something.
"Diana, see? Moving to Metropolis High was a bad choice. To think bullying would end once you moved here!" my mind laughed at me, breaking my heart into not 90000, but 1 million shards that could not be put together again to form 1 solid heart.
"Diana? Are you in there? Zee said she wants to see you,"
"No Jess, it's you who forced me here!" Zee slapped Jess with a resounding thwack. So, Zee doesn't want to say anything, huh...
From the next day onwards, I treated Zee like an enemy in a cold war, meaning--- during lessons, I said nothing to her, during lunch, I avoided the topic of her, and during free time, I hung a sign on the door that read NO VISITORS ALLOWED. Sure, think I'm petty towards her, but seriously, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, as mortals said, though I didn't understand why...
A fortnight later, on a Monday afternoon, I was writing a letter in a scroll to Mother, Hippolyta, and I ordered a messenger to deliver it to her to Themyscira. As it flew away, my eyes caught a glimpse of the chest I had brought here, and the next thing I knew was I opened it and set my eyes upon the photo Zee, Jess, Babs, Kara, Karen and I took at a photo booth during a visit to Metropolis Pier on a weekend. I took a photo of it using my phone and wanted to use a thick red pen in the markup section to draw a big fat cross over Zee in that particular photo, no offence to Zee lovers here. I sighed. Putting the photo back into the chest and closing it, I went back to my desk and sat on my chair, suddenly beginning to cry. I just didn't know why; it was not in the deck of cards I had.
Ding!
Huh? I picked up my phone and read a text--- from Zee.
Diana, I seriously hope you will read this. Jess told me you overheard our conversation about whether I should ditch you or my new friend called Elsie Rosewood, who was begging me to ditch you since you were 'too goody-two-shoes', and that she would be the perfect devil for a playful one like me, according to her. Jess even heard you crying in your room! I am so sorry. I chose to ditch Elsie since true friends don't ditch one another for stupid reasons; as you have always done for me. So it's time for me to pay back and spread the love.
Zee
I smiled.
