It has been 5 years since I was transported to a new world. One big news is that Alice has given birth to a daughter. Her name is Eleanor. She would be considered a sibling of mine.
Other than that, I have been working on awakening my core. I started working on it as soon as my new body was capable of it and until now, I have made quite a bit of progress.
To quicken my awakening process, I had been concentrating the latent energy inside my chest, where a mana core is supposed to be. It is quite a long and arduous process. If left as is, the energy inside of me would have required at least a decade to gravitate towards my chest. But due my daily meditation, my mana core will be awakened by today or tomorrow, probably.
I made my way towards the garden where Reynolds was doing his daily physical exercises to join him.
"Good morning Arthur!" He said excitedly. I merely nodded in response and started stretching.
After roughly an hour, the exercises were completed. I stood up and walked towards the living room.
"Are you not feeling well, Arthur?" Reynolds asked in a worried tone.
Well, that is to be expected. I had never skipped my training. Reynolds would sometimes skip training if he did not feel well or was ill, but I never skipped training. But now i was heading inside before meditation, so he must have assumed that I was unwell.
"I am fine, thanks for your concern." I said simply and continued walking.
After entering inside, I headed straight for a bath. On the way, I saw Alice preparing breakfast while humming a song and Eleanor sleeping in her crib with a peaceful expression on her face.
This truly is a tranquil family. Too bad, tranquility is not what I desire.
After bathing and getting dressed, I sat with Alice and Reynolds for breakfast. As soon as I grasped the spoon, Reynolds asked me a question, "Why did you skip meditation today, Arthur?"
"Arthur skipping meditation? Now that's surprising. Is everything alright dear?" Alice chimed in.
The reason I did not join Reynolds for meditation today is that I have a feeling I will unlock my mana core today or tomorrow. I have read that awakening one's core is followed by a sudden repulsion or absorption of mana, depending on the type of mage you awaken as. I am unaware of the scale of this phenomenon. Thus, I decided that it would be unwise to awaken my core near people. I need to do it in an isolated place.
"Arthur?" Reynolds called my name. I looked towards him to show that he had my attention.
He flinched at the sudden eye contact and then sighed. "You have to stop blanking out in between a conversation, Arthur."
"I apologize. I was lost in my thoughts."
"Anyways, answer my question. Why skip meditation?"
"For your safety."
At my response, Alice and Reynolds were visibly confused. One of them was obviously going to voice a question soon but I answered them beforehand. "You'll understand soon."
"Anyways, I am going out to explore the town today." I don't need to ask for their permission, but since they were supposed to be my parents in this life, I figured that it would be ideal to tell them before going out.
"I was going to go shopping today anyways. You can join me." Alice offered.
"No thanks. I want to go alone."
"Ok, but be careful and don't venture in the woods alone."
"And be back before lunch!" I nodded at Alice's words.
