The water raged around me as I struggled to keep my head above it and stay conscious. My muscles screamed in agony as I fought against the violent push and shove once gentle waves created. Panic was rising in my throat choking me more than the water ever could. The salt burned my eyes and throat as I was swept under. Struggling to reach the surface again I was merely sucked further down into the dark abyss of the sea. I could no longer hold my breath as it came out in a dancing flurry of precious pearls of air. I didn't know if it was death that made everything fuzzy or if fate was kind enough to allow me sleep before death. I truly hoped it was the latter for if death claimed me like this so violent and cruel and beautiful I felt my soul would be trapped here. Yet the waves tossed me around as if I were nothing with such a feeling of grace my panic and fear seemed to drain away leaving me numb. The water was cold and unforgiving as the ocean's rage showed all around me. The darkness that was all around me scared me more than the hell above me as I was swept along like a lifeless puppet. Water crushed my body with its harsh embrace as it invaded my lungs and dragged me deeper with every precious second sending my limbs smacking harshly against each other as my hair flew around me in an angry frenzy with the waves and currents. It hurt and yet the freezing water that set into my skin dulled the pain to a slight throb with every unnatural twist and turn and acrobatic the current forced me to do. It hurt to think. It hurt to do anything with the cold water surrounding me in a veil of darkness and pain. I wasn't sure if I closed my eyes or not but it felt as if they did. Then, everything was darker than the raging sea around me.
