"To Dur..." Elrond said before he paused. "To Dur..."
"Elrond?" Celebrimbor asked. Durin looked puzzled as Elrond put his glass down and leant on the table. "What is wrong?" Celebrimbor asked as he came over to him.
"Have you had too much wine already?"
"Elves do not get sick," Celebrimbor said as he reached Elrond.
"Well, clearly this one does."
"If Elrond is sick then something is gravely wrong."
"I am sick," Elrond said. His skin was turning pale and he was feeling worse by the second. "I am unsure why but..." Elrond said before he fell to the ground.
"Get the lord Gil-Galad."
"Right away," The elf said before they left. Durin came over to Elrond, who was leaning against a table leg and becoming less conscious by the minute.
"You really don't look good."
"No?"
"We will endeavour to find out what is causing this Elrond."
"Yes."
"What is happening?" Gil-Galad asked as he appeared and Elrond closed his eyes.
"Elrond is sick."
"Sick?"
"Yes. It happened quickly and I fear for his life," Celebrimbor said and Gil-Galad knelt beside them. Elrond had now fallen unconscious and the two elven lord's worry for him grew.
"I fear this may be linked to our great tree. We must hasten to the healing halls."
"Yes my lord," Celebrimbor said and he lifted Elrond up before following his lord. Durin followed them, worried even more now for his friend.
"What's wrong with him?"
"At present, we don't know."Gil-Galad whispered words of healing over Elrond, and night slowly turned into day before turning back into night.

The days passed and Durin remained in the halls of the elves, until on the eleventh day after the tree had shed its leaves, Elrond awoke.
"Durin?" He asked as he looked over at him.
"You took your time with your beauty sleep."
"What happened to me?"
"There was something about the sap of the great tree leaving through its roots. I understand they have found a solution for it and, as such, you have woken."
"What solution have they found?"
"Ask them yourself."
"Elrond. You are awake," Celebrimbor said as he joined him.
"I am."
"This is a joyous sight. Lord Gil-Galad had to use deep magic to keep you with us."
"Why was my sleep so long?"
"The great tree was losing its lifeblood. Your connection to it allowed us to seek out the source and destroy it."
"What was the source?"
"It is a long story. And one for another day. For now you must rest. Your body is weak."
"Yes. I shall."
"And I should return home. I only stayed to make sure that you were alright."
"Indeed."
"I will be back in two moons. Just to ensure your safety," Durin said and Elrond smiled.
"Until then my friend."
"Until then," Durin said and he left.
"Rest. You are under lord Gil-Galad's care," Celebrimbor said as he lay a hand on Elrond's shoulder before leaving.
