"Elrond!" Durin screamed as the rocks fell and Elrond was buried underneath them. "Get him out!" Durin shouted and the dwarves quickly worked to free Elrond, and Celebrimbor was standing nearby, fearing the worst.

Soon the first of Elrond's hair and one of his fingers could be seen soon, so the dwarves worked hard on getting him out.

Celebrimbor gasped as they pulled Elron from the rubble. He was covered in dirt, bruises and he was unconscious.
"Take him to our halls," Durin said as tears filled his eyes. "I must fetch my wife."

Once Disa has been fetched and she was working on healing Elrond, Durin was standing beside Celebrimbor. Elrond was lying unnaturally still upon the table of stone. Despite being in injury, he was still fair and posessing of the beauty of the elves.
"Do you have cures for this?" Celebrimbor asked Durin.
"We have cures for many things. But this..." Durin said before he looked at Elrond. "I do not know."
"If successful, when we will he wake?"
"In the few next hours. If it is to be fatal, he will not last long."
"I see. Is there anything I can do?"
"No. We must let Disa work."

He coughed and he felt hands move from him.
"Elrond," A familiar voice said before someone came towards him and he coughed once more. "You're alive."
"Durin?" Elrond whispered. His voice was hoarse and weak
"Yes. It is me," Durin said before he took Elrond's hand. "You had me worried."
"Are you... crying?" Elrond whispered as he felt water hit his skin.
"I am."
"Elrond," Celebrimbor said and Durin stepped back as he wiped his tears away. Elrond managed to open his eyes a little and he looked into his mentor's face. "The skill of these dwarves is impressive."
"Yes."
"How are you feeling?"
"Hurt. The dwarves are skilled. But the rocks hit deep."
"They did indeed."
"Am I in Durin's halls?"
"Yes."
"Let me speak with Durin."
"Of course," Celebrimbor said before he left them. Durin came back over to Elrond and coughed.
"Are you well?"
"Yes. I've just been a little worried about you," Durin said as tears glistened in his eyes and Elrond smiled.
"More than little, it seems."
"So what if it is?"
"Thank you, my friend. So getting me out."
"Getting you out was the easy part. Not that I told the elf, but you were only hanging on my a thread."
"Was I?"
"Yes. Disa had to work her deep magic to bring you back."
"I must thank her. Once I am well."
"Yes. Once you are well."
"And... how long will that be?"
"It's hard to say. A day or two before you can walk I would say. Then a week, possibly two."
"Before I am well?"
"Before you are well enough to travel home."
"I see."
"You are always welcome in my house, but the other elf has requested that you are returned at the earliest convenience. I don't think he approves of our mining venture."
"No. But neither does your father."
"No. He does not."
"Durin... I must rest."
"Of course. I will see Disa and let her know to prepare dinner," Durin said and Elrond smiled.
"Thank you."
"Rest Elrond," Durin said before he left.

Two days later, he ate with Durin and stayed in his house. Then, just shy of two weeks on, he returned with Celebrimbor to Lord Gil-Galad's house.
