*Aoi POV*

Laughter fills Leon's bedroom after Hiro cracks yet another dumb one liner. He's been at it all day, as if he's trying to relieve some of the tension.
We could definitely use it, to be honest. We've already been here for two days, and tonight's the last night before Kanon has to go back home. We've been waiting with bated breath for her to just give up, call her parents and get them to pick her up early, but she's apparently too persistent for that.
I'd admire her, if I didn't hate her so much.
Leon seems to be feeling better as well. We've made sure that he was never alone with Kanon, and the more time goes on the more he relaxes.
He and Hiro are practically attached at the hip at this point. Even right now, they're both sitting on the bed, legs crossed over each other. Junko's been silently celebrating the whole weekend. According to her, she had to deal with both of their crushes at the same time, all while keeping both of their secrets.
She's sitting next to me now, eyes flicking back to the two every now and then with a grin pulling at her lips. I hug her arm as I listen to the others talk about everything and nothing.
"And Mondo has made huge strides in his relationship with my father!" says Taka excitedly, "Isn't that right, Kyo-" He turns to look at the man in question, but suddenly cuts himself off with a wide eyed stare. I follow his gaze, only to have to stifle a giggle at what I see.
Mondo is sitting cross-legged on the bed, all three of Leon's cats surrounding him. He's cradling Chibi like a baby, while the giant cat playfully bats at his nose. Momo has somehow figured out a comfortable position to sleep on Mondo's shoulders, and Tadeo is rubbing her face against his cheek, forcefully kneading his leg.
Mondo notices the silence, and, very carefully as to not bother Momo, lifts his head to look at us. He immediately flusters, flushing a light pink and pouting a little.
"Oi! Just 'cause I'm a dog person doesn't mean I hate cats!" he says a little too loudly. No one responds, and I hear the camera on Chihiro's phone go off as he takes a picture of the scene.
Mondo glares at the boy in question, but Chihiro only sticks his tongue out in a teasing manner, and puts his phone away.
Leon chuckles at them as he stands up, stretching his arms a bit.
"Whatever. I'm gonna go get some food," he says. At the sound of that last word, all three cats turn their heads to look at him expectantly. Almost immediately, they wrestle free from Mondo, hop down to the floor, and leave through the kitty door one after another.
"Oh, you fucker!" Mondo curses, looking directly at Leon with a betrayed expression. Leon grins evilly, briefly giving him the middle finger before heading toward the door.
He turns back around when he hears someone get off the bed. Hiro is standing now, prepared to follow him in case something bad were to happen.
"It's chill, babe." Leon puts his hand up to signal that everything is fine, "It's, like, three in the morning. No one's gonna be awake but us," he finishes.
Hiro doesn't look convinced in the slightest, but he slowly sits back down all the same.
And with that, Leon leaves. The silence is heavy without him here, everyone listening to see if anything goes wrong.
I see Sayaka shift uncomfortably in the corner of my eye. Out of all of us, she probably feels the tension the most. A few more seconds pass, and she suddenly clears her throat.
"So, Mondo, what was that about Taka's dad?" she asks, a hint of nervousness in her tone. Mondo's expression instantly turns to one of excitement, and he launches into the explanation.
Apparently, Taka had passed out at some point during this past weekend. Both Mondo, and Taka's dad stayed with him until he woke up, and they had a really good conversation.
Taka happily reports that Mondo and Mr. Ishimaru have been far more friendly with each other, and Mr. Ishimaru even called him 'My boy' once!
The conversation successfully distracts us, everyone congratulating Mondo on seemingly gaining the mans' approval. But everyone quickly snaps back to attention when Momo bursts through the cat door, meowing wildly.
She comes right up to me, propping her front legs on my knee so that she can better yell at me. I reach out my hand, hoping a few pets will help her calm down. But instead she swerves out of the way, only to move to the next person and do the same thing.
"Uh, I'll admit that I don't know a lot about cats, but that doesn't seem normal," I say nervously.
"Where's Leon?" Kyoko's voice is full of an urgency that I can't quite place. "Surely, getting some food doesn't take this long."
Momo runs over to her next, placing two paws on her chest and meowing as loud and as demanding as she can.
Taka takes over immediately as he stands up with a look of purpose. He starts pointing at people, giving orders.
"Hagakure, Enoshima, Asahina, with me!" He barks. He says it with such authority, that Hiro, Junko, and I obey instantly. We all stand and wait for him to give another instruction.
"Ogami, Owada, Ikusaba, stay here and protect the others unless called," he orders, spinning on his heel to point at the people in question. The three give stern nods.
Taka turns back to us, and mimics the action before opening the door and leading us out. Momo follows us, weaving through our feet until she's right at the front.
Taka's practically stomping down the upstairs hallway, both anger and nervousness radiating from his body. I squirm a little as I follow close behind.
"Uh... Taka?" Junko murmurs nervously. Taka gives no response, heading down the large flight of stairs without so much as a falter in his pace.
"Look, I get bringing Hina along. Swimmer strength and all that." She gestures toward me, struggling to keep up with the boy in front. As if called to attention, my muscles tense and my body gears up for a fight.
"But what's the point of taking us?" She gestures between herself and Hiro, who doesn't seem to be listening to a word she's saying. Out of all of us, he seems to be the one most easily keeping up with Taka.
We're at the base of the stairs now, and Taka slows considerably. He's careful not to make a sound, and signals with a pointed glare that we should do the same. We creep around the corners, still not familiar enough with Leon's house to know where the kitchen is.
"What you two lack in physical ability, you more than make up for with your protective instincts," he whispers. He says it as if he's already planned all this out. He probably has, knowing him.
"You have both been vital in Leon's protection thus far, therefore I want you on the more... immediate team." Kiyotaka's quiet explanations come to a halt as he picks up the sound of muffled voices. The rest of us follow suit immediately, and creep into the adjacent room.
Leon and Kanon are standing in the middle of the kitchen in some sort of stand-off. Leon is backed all the way against the island, eyes darting around and hands fidgeting. Kanon simply stands, unmovable, in front of him.
"Rejecting me is one thing, Lee-Chan, but recruiting people to harass me?" She says indignantly. My blood boils and my fists clench at the sound of her tone. How dare she act like she's done nothing wrong?
"I have rejected you," Leon responds, his voice cracking. "I've rejected you more times than I can count, but you won't take no for an answer!"
I move to intervene, arms already in the fighter stance, and almost yelp in surprise when Taka's arm knocks me gently backwards. I look to him with confusion, only to find him glaring unblinking at the situation in the kitchen.
"He's handling it," he says, barely loud enough to be audible. I hear Hiro scoff behind me.
"If he's handling it so well, why are we here?" He asks sarcastically. I could tell just from a glance that he was itching to get his hands on the girl in front of us. Taka tears his eyes away from the bickering duo, only to turn them to Hiro with a searing glower.
"We're here in case he stops handling it," he responds, venom dripping from every word. It's enough to make Hiro's eyes widen, and he noticeably backs down.
Taka's eyes snap forward again, and I follow his gaze. Kanon has taken a step closer to Leon, who looks like he's trying to disappear into the island countertop.
"You love me!" Kanon insists, "I know you do. Just give me a chance to prove that to you!"
Leon begins to shake, visible even in the darkness of the kitchen, and his hands clutch at the at the counter like a lifeline.
"Stop it... please just stop..." I can barely hear him now. I've never seen Leon like this. He normally radiates a cool and confident aura, nothing like what he's showing now.
He looks so powerless... and that realization forces a red hot rage into the pits of my gut.
Kanon suddenly moves forward, determination hard in her features, only to jump back in surprise when a hissing noise emerges from her feet.
Tadeo has situated herself firmly in between her master and his assailant. Her normally sleek fur is puffed up, and she's hissing and spitting and growling at Kanon.
The latter tries once again to move closer, but Tadeo swats at her legs, each impact enough to send a sharp thud through the air.
Kanon heaves an annoyed grunt, before quickly lifting her foot and harshly kicking the cat to the side. Leon starts to move in the same direction.
"Tad-" He can barely get a step away from the counter, however, as Kanon grabs his shirt with both hands. She slams him back against the counter, the following sound loud enough to make me wince.
