I hit the floor hard in front of me. Tommy had just shoved me to the ground out of nowhere. His friends were standing around us watching with smiles all over their stupid faces. I didn't have the energy to fight back. I just stayed down and waited for the next attack. It never came. I looked up and they were walking away laughing. Guess they're taking it easy on me today. I gathered myself and continued walking out of the school. The school week was over, and I had almost made it out without any problems before Tommy started his shit. I made my way through the doors and headed to my car. Dustin was already there waiting for me. His mom's out of town a couple weeks, so he's staying with me.
"Hey Henderson." I said with a smile.
"Hi mom!" He replied, running to give me a hug. I scoff, but deep down I was filled with joy. I love this kid, although I don't show it much.
"Let's get going." I walked around to the driver's side when I saw Max running over to her piece of shit step brother, Billy. Surprisingly enough, he wasn't apart of the assault earlier. I noticed him staring me down with a smirk on his face. I returned the eye contact briefly before turning away and getting in the car.
