Coffee Beans and Video Games FIRST WRITING

Chapter Four

Hey guys, I'm gonna be honest I hated the third person writing so I'm going back to first LOL. I'll prob go back in and change chpt 3 at some point, but enjoy for now!

I need to find a damn job.

My meal plan from school is barely cutting how much I eat so Mikasa keeps buying me snacks even though I beg her not to. I've ran out of freebie cards at Titan's but Hange just gives me free coffee all the time. I can't ever go anywhere except class, home, and occasionally Titan's. But now I'm starting to feel bad about all the wasted money Levi and Hange are making because they keep giving me free drinks, so for now I can't go to Titan's to study.

I was sitting in our campus library with Eren, Armin, and Mikasa when I looked at my bank account. I sighed really deeply and sunk in my seat.

"Hey, you good?" Eren looked over to me.

I gave him a sarcastic thumbs up. "Peachy."

Armin, who was sitting next to me, looked over at my computer screen. "Oh yikes Y/N, do you need any extra cash?"

"No." I said abruptly and sat up. The three of them looked at each other, then looked at my with concern. "Alright, alright. I am struggling a bit with cash." I say.

"I mean, I can give you-" Mikasa started.

"No, I don't want anyone's money. I'll just find a job."

The three of them looked at each other, their eyes wide.

"Are you going to be able to handle that? You have two minors you know..." Eren said.

I thought for a moment. I thought hard. "I'm gonna have to." I finally said. From then on, homework was paused and the four of us whipped out a resume for me and looked at some job options. We only looked at campus options since I don't have a car, and we found quite a few that I applied for.

"Okay, if you don't hear back from them a week from now, call them back. Don't worry too much, you'll be fine." Mikasa said to me.

"Okay, mom, I've gotten jobs before. I know how this works." I said and we laughed. I scrolled through a little bit more on the job finder website, and I saw one from Titan's Beans:

Titan's Beans. Needed: Baristas who are willing to deal with a cranky short man and a super cool and sexy cafe owner.

I laughed. I can just see Hange and Levi arguing over this, and Hange being the one to publish it without Levi knowing. They're dynamic seems great.

A few days later, I got a call back from the photography department. They offered me a job working at their off campus film shop, where you can develop film, get your camera fixed, etc.. I accepted, trying not to sound super excited. The shop, thankfully, is about a 20 minute walk from my dorm, and it's close to Titan's as well. They asked me to come in and do an interview as a formality and do paperwork that day.

I told my roommates, and they were as excited as I was. 

"I can bring my film to you now, I hope you get a discount." Eren said to me.

"Well, now that you're employed and going to get an income, I can take you to get coffee. Everyone's going, including you Eren," Mikasa points at Eren, "And we can celebrate. When do you have to go in?"

"4 pm." I said. We planned to leave as soon as I get ready, which should be around 1 pm, and then we can hang out at the cafe until I have to go to the photography department (the interview and paperwork will be at the department building rather than the actual store).

I put on my most dressy outfit on and we rush out the door, trying to get to Titan's as fast as we can so that we'll have more time to hang out. We all brough something to entertain ourselves when we run out of things to talk about- Mikasa brough homework, Armin a book, Eren my Switch (he won't buy his own so he always uses mine- but he knows if he breaks it then he has to buy me a new one, but it's not like he will break it), and me my laptop so that I can work on my game.

Quickly, we get to the cafe and see that it is absolutley packed- probably every single chair is taken, and people are even siting outside on the benches and the one deck table and chairs out in the cold. The line is so long some of it is outside, so we had to wait out in the cold for a couple minutes until we were greeted with the warmth of Titan's. I looked across the cafe and I could not see a single table open, yet people were leaving the building. Finally, Eren found a spot and went to sit down (he hates coffee) while us three stood in line.

Eventually, we get to the counter. "Hey ya'll hows it goin'?" Ymir was at the counter. We gave her our orders and Mikasa insisted it all be on one bill, until Hange walked out from the back room.

"Quick, give her the money!" I whispered and forced Mikasa's hand holding her card to Ymir. I turned around so that Hange wouldn't see me. Luckily, they were preoccupied with other things, so I finally got a paid drink (although, it was with Mikasa's money, but I plan to pay her back).

We sit and start talking and Ymir brings us our drinks. Mikasa got Eren a cup of water and a bagel since he's basically her child now, and we got our lattes. Our conversation was coming to an end when Levi walked out with Hange. 

Both their eyes went straight to me, directly into my eyes. I jolted and looked away. Armin took notice, turned to look at the two of them, and slowly turned back to us.

"That one guy is seriously scary," Armin said, "Y/N, they're staring right at you."

I could feel lasers in the back of my head, and I know they're talking about me. I open my laptop to try and distract myself from the hole burning in the back of my scalp when a hand touched my shoulder.

"Y/N," It was Hange, "How'd you sneak past us? I hope you didn't have to pay for that, you still have freebies left."

"Oh, no it's okay thank you." I said, not looking up. I could feel Hange's eyes on me, and another pair on the back of my skull.

I felt Hange move a bit, and then spoke again. "Well, next time it's on the house for all of you. I'd love to treat any friend of Y/N's."

"Thank you, sir! Or, ma'am?" Armin said cheerfully.

"Whichever you prefer. If you need anything, let me know. Or you could text me with the phone number I gave you, Y/N." Hange said. I looked up at them and they were smiling big, not in a weird, smart ass way, but this smile seemed a bit more genuine. I felt myself blush as I smiled back and they walked back to the front. The laser burning a hole into the back of my head burned worse, but then eventually moved past me. Why do I always torture myself here?

"Weird. Anyways, how's your game going?" Eren asks me, and I sigh in relief. Finally, someone asks me!

It's around 3:45, and I check the time. "Shit! I hope I'm not late." I said and packed up my bag.

"Don't worry, we'll pick up you garbage. I'll probably stay here a bit longer if anyone wants to join me." Mikasa said. Armin and Eren nodded, and I packed my bag.

"Wait, let me look at myself in the mirror." I said and rush to the bathroom. I check myself out in the mirror, and fix my hair a bit and brush my clothes, then rush out the door. I wave goodbye to my friends and start to leave when I hear someone call my name from behind me.

"Y/N!" I hear, almost sounding angrily. I stopped dead in my tracks. I was like a deer in headlights. I slowly turn and Levi is staring at me, his mouth slightly open. The cafe was silent, and I'm sure everyone was staring at us.

Hange, who was standing next to him, elbowed him a bit. "Ow, oh, uhm... you look nice today..." He said, looking away from me. It was even more quiet in the cafe. Time has stopped and now all eyes are on Levi. I am completely baffled. 

"Uhm, thank you Levi. And thanks for the drink." I slightly wave and run out the door. What the fuck was that?

Alr, next chapter will go more in depth about the last bit, so stay tuned. It's not that bad of writing, I hav plans with it lol. Thanks for reading I really, genuinely appreciate it and I hope ur enjoying the story as much as I am writing it <333
