Chapter 5

"Hey, I didn't get to talk to you today from all the crying and catching up" Brooke said as she kissed Julian on the cheek.

"Yeah I know, did I tell you that you look gorgeous and that I love you" Julian told her.

"I love you too."

"Hey how are my favorite couple doing?" Peyton said as she took her seat next to Brooke.

"We're doing great P. Sawyer."

"I'm going to go to Nick" Julian said.

Peyton and Brooke smiled to each other.

"So Brooke, how do you feel? You are officially married." Peyton said smiling

"It feels good. It feels amazing and I didn't get to thank you for that amazing speech Peyton." Tears were now falling from both of them.

"It was all from the heart Brooke, now come here" Peyton pulled Brooke for a hug.

"So did you talk to Luke?" Brooke asked.

"I said hi and we hugged and that was it"

"That's it?" Brooke said surprised.

"Yeah I had to introduce some people to Nick"

"Did you introduce him to everyone?"

"Yeah"

"So here's your chance" They both looked at Lucas sitting in the bar by himself because Lindsay was talking to Haley.

"You think?" Peyton asked

"Come on Peyton you have to talk sooner or later"

"But what if he hates me Brooke, what if he doesn't want to talk"

"Peyton the guy wrote a whole book about you" they both chuckled at that comment.

As Peyton was walking to Lucas, Skills stopped her.

"What's up home wrecker"

"Hey Skills" Peyton said smirking.

Whilst Skills was talking she couldn't help but notice Lucas leave and enter a room.

"And yeah that's how we broke up" Skills finished it off.

"Oh Skills I'm so sorry" Peyton said trying to look for Lucas.

"Yeah well if you're looking for Lucas he is in that room" Skills said pointing at a room on the side.

"Oh I feel so dumb, I'm sorry Skills it's just that we didn't get to talk yet"

"I understand" Peyton hugged him and went to Lucas.

"Hey Luke" Peyton said, starting the conversation.

"Why did you say no Peyton"

Peyton's face turned red and she was so shocked at how the question came out. She didn't know what to say her mouth was starting to be dry. "Luke.."

"Why did you say no when I came to you and proposed to you in LA Peyton, why hurt me like that?" Lucas shouted.

"I never said no Luke" her voice was getting louder now. "What do you expect me to say, you showed up in LA and ambushed me.."

Lucas interrupted his face turning red

"By ambush, you mean propose to you?"

"Oh ya out of the blue, a proposal that was driven by some insecurity that I've never been able to understand"

"Insecurity, let me tell you how it's supposed to be Peyton, when a guy asks you to marry him you don't say no and then call him insecure"

"I NEVER SAID NO. I said that I loved you and that I did wanna marry you someday and ohh god Luke I wanted to so bad.. but you gave up on us"

"I GAVE UP ON US?"

"YES"

"BY PROPOSING, I GAVE UP ON US?" They were both shouting at each other now.

"No by not waiting, you gave up on us and you know that's the truth"

"OH THATS GREAT PEYTON, YOU WANNA TALK TRUTH, LETS TALK TRUTH"

"Ok" she said sighing.

"YOU GAVE UP ON ME, THATS WHY YOU DIDNT SAY YES. YOU DIDNT THINK I COULD DO IT, YOU DIDNT THINK I COULD GET MY NOVEL PUBLISHED. Maybe you just didn't care because it wasn't about you or what you wanted"

"Well if that's the truth, IF I NEVER CARED THEN HOW COME EVERY TIME I SEE YOUR STUPID BOOK, I BUY IT EVERY STUPID DAMN TIME LUKE. YOU SAID I WAS GREAT, YOU SAID I COULD BE GREAT, YOU SAID WE WERE DESTINED TO BE TOGETHER, YOU SAID IT TO THE WORLD AND YOU SAID IT TO ME AND I WISH YOU WOULDNT HAVE BECAUSE YOU DIDNT MEAN ANY OF IT" Peyton shouted crying.

Lucas put his hands up in defense as Peyton left the room.

Almost everyone was looking at Peyton when she walked out and then Lucas went out. Peyton's face was red now.

Lindsay stared at Lucas as she left. Peyton went over to Brooke and Julian and kissed them goodbye "I'm sorry Brooke" she said with a sad smile.

"Peyton wait" Brooke yelled wanting to run after her but Nathan stopped her and told her "Let me."

"Peyton" Nathan ran out to Peyton but Peyton was ignoring him "Peyton wait!"

Peyton stopped.

"What happened in there Peyton?"

"I don't know Nathan, I went to talk and the rest was just a big blur" Peyton said.

"I'm sorry Peyton" Nathan said as he hugged her.

"You remember when I called you that morning in LA, when Lucas proposed the night before and then I woke up and he was gone?"

"Yeah I remember, you were really sad and I felt like punching Luke"

"Yeah, I have this dream where we're back in that room in LA and every time I say yes" Peyton said to Nathan then she walked away.

"You still love him don't you?" Nathan asked her.

Peyton smiled.
