Birthday party

We had been celebrating Bells birthday.  Everything had been going so smoothly.  I had talked Bells down from freaking out about being 18.  She said that it was horrible that she was getting older than Edward, and that she wanted him to turn her.

I walked away from her when she said this, saying I needed the  bathroom, but the truth was, I was nervous about the topic.  Jasper and I had never discussed it, and I was beginning to think that he was avoiding it.

Like I said, everything was going smoothly. Edward and Bells had been happily together, and I had graduated high school.  I was still living with Dad, who was still being weary around us.  It was a work in progress, which was why I was fine with staying at home while I worked full time at the library.

We were over at the Cullen's, and I had finally met everyone.  They were all super kind, well except for Rosalie. She didn't like Bells.  But she loved me.  I don't know, it doesn't make sense to me either.

Emmett had gotten Bells a new radio for the car, and it was very nice, since I was also still driving that car for now.

Bells picks up another present, and she is working on opening it when I make eye contact with Jasper.  I smile, and feel nothing but joy.  I have been the happiest ever for the last month, after the whole hunting fiasco was over with.

I see Jasper's head snap towards Bells, and I look over to see that she had gotten a paper cut. In front of a half dozen vampires.

I move towards Bells, and Edward pushed her out of the way.  He immediately goes into a fighting stance against Jasper, who is currently tracking Bella.

Bella, who goes flying from Edwards impact, and before hitting the wall, clips me in the face. I twirl from that impact, and crouch to the ground.  I hold my nose and look up to see Bells laying there, with a now bleeding arm.  And I'm on my knees, with a bloody nose.

I hold a tissue to my nose as Carlisle is cleaning and stitching up Bells cuts.

Jasper left a while ago, and wouldn't even look me in the eye. He just zipped out.  Edward also left, presumably to talk to Jasper, but I was unsure, as there was no communication there.

Bells was having a conversation with Carlisle, and I just wanted to go home after this.  I was tired and was hoping that by tomorrow, Jasper would feel less guilty about what happened.

Eventually we leave, and I'm settled nicely into my bed.  I drift off while Bells is in the shower, and a dream instantly surfaces.

I'm standing just off my backyard. The fallen tree where Jasper told me he was  vampire.  I look around and see my glove. I bend down and pick it up, wondering how it got out here.  I haven't worn this pair in a while.

I look up and Jasper is in front of me. He is smiling.  He comes closer and pulls me into his arms.  He is cold, but comforting, and very gentle.  His arms around my waist, and mine rest on his chest.

His expression became painful, and he is looking down.  I follow his eyes, and see him pulling his hands away.  They are covered in blood. There is blood all over my torso.  I can't tell where it is coming from and I'm not in pain.

I look up to ask him what's happening, and there is blood all over his arms.

I reach out to check him for injury, being naturally scared for him, but he pulls away and takes many steps away from me, shaking his head.  I go after him, calling his name, but hearing nothing.  I hear a whisper from him, and before I process what it was, he is gone from my sight. I am alone.

I realize what he said and crumble to the floor, thinking that there is no way this is real.

Goodbye
