Nathan pov: After Moose charged into the clearing out of breath and panicking, he had me teleport the three of us near the edge of the graveyard. I was very confused, but what confused me more was seeing not one but two figures standing in the now destroyed field. Then it clicked in my head, an intense battle had just taken place, and one of those figures was Sabre, the other was the enemy, but which silhouette was our friend, and which was the foe? Before any of us could figure out who was who, one of the figures collapsed. I could feel Moose's panic rise to new heights, and honestly I was starting to panic too.
"Guys what are you waiting for, let's go!" Shark shouted at us, snapping us from our trances. We began to run towards the figures, only to see the one that was left standing fall down as well. I picked up the pace running side by side with Shark, a tired and out of breath Moose was right on our tails. When we got close we saw one of the figures dissolving into black smoke, or dust, it was hard to tell. The other one was a badly hurt Sabre.
"Sabre! Can you hear us? You ok?!" I shouted kneeling down next to his body. OK that was stupid to ask, clearly he's not ok.
"Dude seriously? He's on the ground, probably unconscious, he's bleeding, and you ask if he's ok?!" Shark scolded, kneeling down on Sabre's other side.
"I-I'm fine" We heard a voice croak.
"How are you?" Looking down I saw the sarcastic, sassy, yet pained smirk Sabre had on and couldn't help but snicker.
"Sabre, where did HE go?" Moose asked, panting, and nervous. "Di-did you win?"
"Don't know." He answered in one breath. "But he's not gone... I won the battle though." The way he said that last bit sounded like he was bragging, but what I wanted to know who 'HE' was,
"Who were you fighting Sabre?"
*Sigh* "An old foe" was all he could muster. He was clearly exhausted.
"We need to get him somewhere safe so he can rest and heal up." Shark said.
"Yeah but where?" Moose asked.
"What about my parents house?" I offered. "Listen my dad's a Green Steve, he can help with both of their injuries" I explained pointing to Moose and Sabre. Shark seemed to be contemplating the idea, I don't blame him, it's risky for us in an all Steve village, but what other choice do we have?
"Ok" he decided with a nod. "Think you can teleport all of us there?"
"Of course I can," I bluffed. I only recently mastered teleporting me Moose and Shark around, now I have to add an injured fourth member to that, this would be difficult. But I had to try, Shark is right, we can't leave Sabre here, and I'm not skilled enough to heal his wounds.
"Don't sweat it man, you've got this." Moose said while putting a reassuring hand on my shoulder. His confidence and trust in me helped me shove my doubts to the back of my mind.
"Thanks man" I said. "Now then, everyone grab onto me." Moose kept his hand on my shoulder, Shark picked up Sabre bridal style and leaned against my other shoulder. Which normally would be ok, but since I wanted to make sure both he and Sabre would teleport with me I grabbed onto him, and then I closed my eyes and focused on my home, and my parents. I heard the little 'zip' sound that happens when I teleport, and immediately felt almost all my strength leave me. I couldn't believe how draining teleporting them all was, but I stayed focused on my old home. When I could feel solid ground beneath my feet I opened my eyes, I did it, we were in the living room of my old house. Feeling relieved I got it right I sank to the floor in exhaustion.
"Nathan!" Shark shouted.
"Dude are you ok?" Moose asked with concern.
"Yeah, it just took more out of me than I thought." I answered, Guess to them I looked worse than how I felt. Moose tried to help me up, but I saw him wince. I wanted to talk to him about it, but the front door opened followed by a loud gasp.
"Uh hey papa sorry for dropping in unannounced we uh, could use some help" I spoke to the very concerned looking Green Steve.
"PURP!" He shouted at the top of his flipping lungs.
"What?" A very annoyed Purple Steve asked.
"Look." Was All my papa said, gesturing to me and my friends with both his arms. Dad took one look at the sorry state of me and my friends and instantly went into 'dad mode'. I'm so grounded! I thought to myself as I thought of an excusable explanation to what happened to us.
"Nathanael what-" Dad began but a pained groan from Sabre cut him off.
"Dad I'll explain later, but Sabre is really hurt, I'm not skilled enough to heal him, but Papa's the best healer any of us know so please help my friend." I said giving them both my puppy dog eyes.
"I'm not about to kick you four out, but I want to know what happened to you. You know how we both worry Nathan." Dad said, giving me a small hug.
"Don't worry about your friend sweety, I'll take good care of him." Papa said, walking towards Shark and Sabre. He tried to take Sabre from Shark, but Shark didn't want to let Sabre go. "Dear let him go, you can see him after I help him." Reluctantly Shark gave Sabre to my Papa and he took Sabre to the medical lab downstairs.
"Moose sit on the couch and I'll heal your injuries." Now that Sabre was safe and in good hands Moose was next.
"I'm fine" he tried to say, but I wasn't gonna let him get away with that.
"Oh no you're not!" I said sternly, "I saw you wince earlier, you are bruised, exhausted, and filthy, so sit your tired butt on that couch and let me heal you or I WILL hide your Moose Milk!"
"No, not the Moose Milk man, anything but the Moose Milk!" He cried. Not wanting to test my threat he quickly and quietly sat down on the couch and I began to check him for serious injuries, and started healing the wounds I could see.
"Soooooooooo," My dad said, taking a seat in the recliner that's across from the couch. "Is someone gonna fill me in or what?"
"Oh uhm I'll do my best, but I only know half the story myself." Shark said. My dad looked confused but nodded anyway and Shark began to tell my dad the story of how we met Sabre, who he is, and everything we've been through. He explained that we had split into two teams, me and him going to his dads place for info, while Sabre and Moose went to the archives. When Moose came barreling through the bushes, when we saw the two figures collapse at the end of the epic fight. "Then Nathan teleported all 4 of us here, and that's all I know, to hear the rest you'll have to hear it from Moose and Sabre."
"..." Dad sat still trying to process everything that he just heard. "So you're telling me that your new friend 'Sabre' is really an ancient powerful being from the great war, and you four are trying to free his friend who sacrificed everything to save us?"
"That about sums it up, yeah." I said, I finally finished patching Moose up.
"Son, what have you gotten yourself into?" Dad said, he sounded concerned and almost disappointed.
"Just another adventure" I replied. I could tell he wanted to say more, but he looked around the room, specifically at my friends, then shook his head and said he would prepare dinner.
--Time Skip cause idk what to put here--
Sharks pov: It's been 2 whole days since we teleported to Nathan's parents house and Sabre still isn't awake. I'm worried about him, the Green Steve, er well Nathan's Dad said that he just needs to rest. Speaking of Nathan he's been grounded, and if they had the means to get in contact with my Dad, and Moose's parents (which they don't) we would be grounded too.
We were in the kitchen eating breakfast when I heard a light thud come from up stairs. The others heard it too and we all went up stairs to investigate. When we got up there we saw Sabre on the ground wrestling with a tangible shadow?
"Could use-Off- a little help guys!" Sabre said, still wrestling with the thing. I snapped out of my state of confusion and shock and rushed to help Sabre, but when that thing saw me it growled then lept back towards the window. Before it disappeared it made a bunch of weird wispy sounds, then in the blink of an eye leaped through the window and vanished. Nathan teleported over to the window and was looking around for the thing, Moose was over by Sabre helping him up.
"Dude, what was that thing?" Moose asked.
"Better question is, are you alright?" I inputted.
"That thing was darkness, and yeah I'm ok" Sabre answered both of our questions, but now I had so many more questions.
"Wait, darkness? As in that stuff that was used by the great enemy to corrupt Steves?" Green asked full of concern.
"That would be the stuff, haven't seen it in a while, guess he's still alive." He answered nonchalantly, a little too nonchalantly. "By the way, where are we? I don't remember much after I collapsed."
"Oh we're at my parents house." Nathan answered, finally giving up and backing away from the window.
"Yes and now that you're awake, can you explain what exactly happened while you and Moose were fighting?" Purple asked with a slightly serious tone.
"You didn't tell them?" Sabre asked, looking at Moose.
"No, " he answered. "But to be fair I don't understand half of what happened out there. All I do know is that I would have died if it weren't for you, I also know that a really big enemy is after us."
"Correct Moose, HE is back, and he won't stop hunting us until I'm dead, and he will conquer this world." Sabre's grim words sent a chill down my spine. "But if you insist on having an explanation, how much do you know?"
"We know what happened with Shark and Nathan, but not much on what happened with you or Moose, we just know that there was a big battle and you were badly injured." Green answered.
"You lost the fight." Purple mumbled, but Sabre clearly heard him because he replied saying,
"excuse you?! I collapsed AFTER HIM so technically I won our little bout! And besides, that battle was a draw, and is nothing compared to what our final fight will be like! Once I get all my powers back that is..." I couldn't help but snicker at Sabre's childish reaction to the Purple Steve's comment.
All of us headed to the living room to hear Sabre's side of the story. I was curious as to who he fought and why this was happening.
"So me and Moose had just finished up at the Dark Archives, I used the galaxy sword to teleport us back, however I missed the exit and we ended up in the grave field. We would have just walked over there, but Notch decided to attack us. Moose and Entity 303 held him off long enough for me to summon some friends for back-up. We continued to fight against Notch's armies and creatures of darkness and un-dead, long into the night. Finally we were able to take out the last of his armies, we thought it was over. I was hoping Notch had run away, unfortunately he hadn't, he willingly gave up his body to house a very powerful and dangerous being from the past. The leader of the darkness, the original enemy, the one who started the Great war to begin with. Whose name is a blight, a curse, those who say it are doomed to become members of his army, so forgive me, but I'm leaving that part out. I convinced Moose to run, but only after HE attempted to attack us. After Moose left me and him engaged in a fierce battle. I was weak from over exerting my limited powers, but thankfully Notch's body wasn't strong enough to handle his full power, so he too was weak. We battled for a while and eventually tired ourselves out, however I managed to take him out first, but only barely. As you saw I was severely damaged, while he was not, or rather his real body suffered no harm. Notch's body got beat up, but I'm assuming I weakened or hurt him mentally. But that's basically it, I'm not going to go into the gorey, complicated, and boring details."
"So you're telling me, even though you were on the brink of collapsing from exhaustion, you battled the strongest being in the history of this world and lived?!" Nathan's Dad said in disbelief.
"Yeah, don't you remember Shark told you two that Sabre was a part of that war." Moose said.
"Yeah but I thought he was some general, or a descendant of a survivor, but who, WHAT are you?"
"I'm just me, a creator who has been forgotten, who has lost his powers, family, and friends. An ancient being trying to save a dear friend." Sabre solemnly explained. I frowned and gave him a comforting side hug.
"I, sorry..." the poor Green Steve looked down, ashamed and feeling guilty.
"Wait, why did you go to the Dark Archive?" Nathan's Pa, the Purple Steve, asked.
"Oh to gather information on what curse, spell, or magic The Dungeon Master used on himself, and find a way to reverse it." Nathan answered.
"Yeah and me and Nathan went to go see my dad to look at the scroll of forbidden spells and -wait my dad!" I screamed, I just remembered someone pounding on the door and him telling me to send a message to some guy named 'Elan'. Problem was, I didn't know anyone by that name, and I didn't have time to ask dad where I could find this guy.
"Oh you're right! I hope he's ok..." Nathan placed a calming hand on my shoulder, but poor Moose and Sabre were confused.
"What's wrong?" Moose asked.
"Someone really powerful and important found out we were looking at the scroll, which my dad was tasked with guarding, and was trying to break into our house." I said, I could see the worry increase on Sabre's face. "He said something, it's a message for some guy named Ela-'.' I was in the middle of saying the name, when the earth began to shake, I felt lightheaded, and scared. Everyone was panicking now, we didn't know what was happening. Sabre was rigid, but I could barely see the faintest bit of light coming from his bandana. Then that glimmer of light exploded and surrounded us. It was so bright I was forced to close my eyes. When everything felt normal again I opened my eyes. Everyone was still in their seats, but we were all confused. Sabre's heavy breathing was the only sound in the room, until Moose asked the obvious question on everyone's minds.
"Uh, what the Moose Milk just happened?!"
"An earthquake maybe?" Nathan offered, unsure himself.
"Shark, what was the message?" Sabre asked, seeming to have recovered his breath.
"Uh, it's kind of weird, and private so I don't know if I should tell you..."
"I er... know that person, " he said, struggling to find proper words. "And I have a way of getting in contact with them, so can you please tell me what you father, God Steve told you?" He seemed pretty adamant on knowing the message, but if he knew this 'Elan' guy, it made my job easier.
"Ok he said 'The first of 3 is near, look for the book at death's door. Do what you want, but don't get yourself or my son killed.' I don't understand the first part, but that's what he told me before we left."
"Death's door... death's door..." Sabre said quietly to himself, pondering the words carefully. "... wait he couldn't mean, but it has to be... the book, the door." Sabre seemed to understand the message, but I was even more lost now. "Wait, why there? I don't wanna go there! WhhhYyYyYYyyYYyyYyy HyYyyYypOOoOooOoOOooOoO?!"
"Uuuuhhhhhh Sabre, care to share with the group?" Nathan said, "cause the rest of us are very confused."
"Yeah, and who's this hip-no guy?" Moose asked. Earning a snicker out of Sabre
"Ok first of all it's Hypno, secondly, the 'Death's door' thing you're dad mentioned is referring to a dimensional gate a Steve made. However there are a couple of gates, or well there were multiple, but it's been centuries since then and the gates have most likely been destroyed. But he called it 'Death's door' so I have two guesses as to which gate it could be." Sabre said. It looked as though he had more to say, however he was rudely interrupted by a growingly impatient Moose.
"Well spill it, I already told you I hate suspense!" Moose complained. Guess he's been sitting too long. Moose physically can not sit still for too long or he'll go stir crazy!
"Ok, ok! So it's either the gate to Nightmare Steve's Dimension, or it's the gate to a dimension Galaxy made." Sabre said. He shuddered at the mention of 'Nightmare Steve' and from the stories I've heard, I don't blame him.
"Wait wait wait, hold on one second," Moose interrupted again! "Isn't Galaxy that purple swirly guy I met a few days ago?"
"Yeah, during the fight with Notch." Sabre confirmed not understanding Moose confusion.
"Isn't he one of your friends?" Moose asked, which Sabre nodded 'yes' to, still confused. "Then why are you scared of this dimension?"
"Oh because it makes no sense... ok it makes Galaxy sense, but if you ever go there you will understand." Sabre said.
"What's 'Galaxy sense' mean?" Nathan asked, I nodded my head in agreement to Nathan's question 'cause I too didn't understand what that meant.
"Uuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhh" Sabre seemed unsure of how to answer our question. "Well Galaxy Steve is an interesting Steve. You see he's very powerful, guardian of time and space and all. But he's kind of, childish... in a way. He's not very smart, he loves to eat puffer fish, despite me constantly telling him they're poisonous! He is a great friend though, a guy who makes everyone laugh. He kept me sane, even though being near him felt like you were losing brain cells. But he's a good guy, one of the best. But that universe, dimension, place has pickle pigs, sandwiches, purple ground and sky, cotton candy clouds, and more strange stuff that makes no sense. That is what Galaxy sense means, things that make sense to Galaxy, but no one else."
"Well he sounds like Moose," I joked.
"Yeah he, wait HEY!" Moose exclaimed, very offended.
"Mhm" Nathan nodded, agreeing with what I said.
"What?" Moose pouted.
"Pfft," Sabre was trying his absolute hardest not to laugh his butt off, however...
"You too Sabre?" Moose whined realizing there was no saving himself. So instead he turned his head away from us poutingly and said, "traitors." That's what tipped our dear Sabre over the edge. He just couldn't contain his laughter, and just let it buble out. I'll be honest he has a nice laugh, and he still doesn't express himself often, and when he does, it's not usually a good or positive emotion. So hearing him laugh, genuinely laugh was really nice.
We goofed around the rest of the day, or rather Moose goofed off, I did what I could to keep him from being too much of a noob, but that's easier said than done. Nathan and Green Steve kept on pushing Sabre to rest, and poor Purple Steve just gave up on the day, and probably life too. It was great, I wished it could have lasted like that a while longer. But unfortunately for us, life had a different plan in mind.
