Cardboard boxes and moving items were sprawled in front of an apartment door. The door was ajar as the person keeps taking his stuff inside the apartment.
It was moving day. Ren was now a college student. So, first step towards independence was moving out of his parents' house and getting his own place.
He rested his hands on side of his hips, bending backwards a little, trying to crack the tension from his muscles after lifting so many heavy items.

As he lifted last box of his belongings. His neighbor came out of the adjoining apartment.
She was a beautiful girl, carrying her bag on the shoulder while nodding in acknowledgement towards him, smiling, she walked towards the lift.

He remained starstruck for the beauty. Grinning to himself, he closed the door.
Last tenant left some things like refrigerator, bed, sofa, etc. So, he doesn't need to buy too many things for his move in.

He called his mother, notifying her that he has moved in and from tomorrow will be going for his college.

It's been 3 months since he has moved in now. At first things were going awesome for him but now he has started to feel so tired and exhausted all the time. Maybe one of the reasons is his lack of sleep. No matter how less he sleeps he just can't get any sleep more than 3 hours causing him to get tired during his classes and exhausted for studying.

And above all, his cute next-door neighbor seems to hate him as she keeps telling him to not make any sounds at night. Which he is quite sure is on purpose, because he is the exact opposite.

He was tired, didn't have any energy to even cook. He opened the full-length partition door of his bedroom that connects his balcony. Trying to inhale fresh cooling air and relax his mind.
He realized he have not watered any plants for two days now. He didn't have any particular fondness towards indoor plants, but last tenant left them here and since they were in good shape, he started watering them. He lastly watered the small bamboo plant and went inside to take a nap so he can get back to studies later on.

He was walking on a dark and path while he can hear loud footsteps following him. A small droplet of sweat trailed down column of his neck as he can hear someone breathing down his neck. He slowly tilted his neck to side, but he doesn't know why it was hard. Someone was whispering something to him, but he couldn't understand what he meant. His breath was stinky like a rotten meat. He can feel his heartbeat racing and he wanted to turn, see who is it? What was he saying?

Flash of yellow teeth and next thing he know he was choking, his vision blank and dark. Only menacing laughter surrounding him and keeps on growing louder like an echo.
His ears ringing.
Heart picking up a pace higher.
While laughter echoed louder.
The grip on his neck tightened.

He woke up from another nightmare. He slowly blinked and took in his surroundings. He can hear his neighbor banging on side wall, yelling to shut up. He grabbed the clock, checking that it was not past than 3:05 am. He sighed. Rubbing the sweat off his face. Moving towards his study table, in hope to at least read something.

The following days didn't go better, he keeps getting haunted by these nightmares. He finally completed one of the topics of study today, that his assignment was on. Tired and exhausted.
