Ren was walking down the road, carrying some packets of instant noodles which he purchased from nearby convenience store. He was waiting on sidewalk for traffic signal to turn green.
He started walking crossing the street while trying to fetch his phone out which was blaring uncontrollably.
The phone fumbled in his hand, slipping out of his grip. Before he could stop it from falling down. He heard honking of car nearby with echoing screams near him.
His eyes blinking, opening and closing rhythmically, looking around and at the gathering people. His eyes unfocused from the headlight of car, his head feeling fuzzy as he finally surrendered to darkness.
His eyes opened again, he was in the hospital for sure. He was hooked with an IV and heart machine with annoying beeping sound echoing in the lonely room.
His friends came inside his room, looking at him concerned. They soon called doctor in for checkup.
The doctor informed him that he was hit by a car, he have some scratches and bruises but luckily nothing major happened. His mother called him in the evening, concerned and worried. Shouting at him for being careless, briefly informing him that she and his father were on the way to meet him.
He was resting on the not so comfortable hospital bed, blinking and sinking in his influenced state.
He heard footsteps, they were loud. The sound felt like something was attached to its feet, something sticky. By passing seconds, the sound felt that it was coming towards him. Then it was dragging around him.
He woke up frightened. Looking around but he didn't find anyone.
It stopped.
He gulped, his throat contracting.
The footsteps began again. But this time, the voice became louder. Like someone was pacing right next to him. The growl was terrifying.
He was sure someone was in his room. He hesitantly looked around but found none. Sweat glisten his forehead as heart started pounding against his ribcage.
Something dropped on his forehead. Sticky and sloppy. His fingers reached for the substance.
It was dark and muddy like a liquid tar. Smelling disgusting.
His eyes finally danced up, towards the ceiling. A horrified scream left from his mouth, but it felt like no one was around to hear it. He was left alone in this room.
The creature was standing right above his head. He was upside down. His legs touching the ceiling, leaving a black, gooey imprint of his path. His body completely dark and his teeth yellow. His menacing smile directed towards Ren. As his hollow eyes looking at him like he want to devour his soul. His face just in front of Ren's.
Before another scream could rip from Ren's lungs. The creature grabbed his neck in a tight grip. Ren's voice caught in his throat. Both of the creature's hands against his neck, squeezing slowly. His grin widening upto his ears in satisfaction.
Ren lungs were on fire, struggling for air. Sweat dripping down his form while try to break free of his hold.
But the creature just twisted removing legs from ceiling and jumping down in a 360 degree turn, landing on Ren's.
His body melting on Ren's, spreading the dark material over his body. Ren gasped out loud and the menace lunged inside his mouth.
Ren woke up startled, looking around with sweat glistening his form. His mother was surprised too, holding his hand, rubbing them to calm him down. His eyes finally found focus on his mother, next to him. Worried. His father sitting on the sofa, which is stationed on corner of the room, talking with someone on the phone.
