"Long ago, men ventured into the vast expanse of the sea, and women would stand on the water's edge, their gaze fixed upon the distant horizon, searching eagerly for the sight of a tiny ship. Now, in this present moment, I find myself waiting for Henry. But unlike those women of old, he disappears without warning, leaving me behind in a state of eternal anticipation. Each passing moment feels like a year, stretching out infinitely before me. Time moves with a sluggishness that is both transparent and agonizing, as if every moment reveals a myriad of other moments waiting in line. I find myself questioning why he has embarked upon a path where I cannot follow."
Yoongi, burdened by a heavy sigh, shuts his eyes tightly. It has been nine days since his angel first graced his garden, and with each passing night, he waits with hope shining in his eyes. Alas, his angel never returns, and Yoongi experiences a profound loneliness that he has never before known. In an attempt to distract his mind from this desolation, he turns to the solace of reading.
However, it seems that fate conspires against him, for the very book he chooses only serves to remind him of his ethereal presence. Just as those women in the tale waited for Henry, Yoongi waits for his rose. The passing of time feels like an eternity, its sluggish pace stretching moments into years.
He gazes at the somber, dusky sky, his eyes brimming with sadness and solitude. The spark that once resided in his eyes has extinguished, leaving behind a pallid countenance. His vibrant smile, once a testament to joy, has faded away. The brilliance that once illuminated his world has been consumed by darkness, much like the moon obscured by the shadows of a lunar eclipse. Winter has settled in, enveloping the land with an icy coldness unlike any Yoongi has experienced. His beloved garden, which in past years bloomed with resplendent flowers, now withers away in his neglect. The atmosphere hangs heavy with melancholy, adding to his sorrow and isolation.
Carefully, Yoongi marks his place in the book—The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger—a poignant tale that resonates deeply within his soul. He wraps his feathers around himself, seeking a modicum of warmth, before retreating into the mansion. James, a devoted companion, casts a saddened smile towards his master, who reciprocates with a glimpse of acknowledgment. James perceives the depths of Yoongi's growing despondency, having witnessed the sparkle of happiness that once illuminated his eyes. He prays for his master's well-being, yearning for the return of his radiant joy.
Yoongi eats, but the flavors fail to register upon his palate. He consumes sustenance out of habit, lacking any true appetite. Soon, he retires to his bed after a shower, closing his eyes and finding solace in the depths of his memories. Within the realm of his mind, his angel materializes, his presence vividly etched into Yoongi's consciousness. He recalls the crescent-shaped eyes, the pink plump lips curving into an angelic smile, and the radiant gaze that alighted upon a bouquet of flowers. The melodious sound of his laughter resonates within, tiny fists clenched with delight. Every time Yoongi's eyes close, his angel dances before him.
Oh, how he misses him! He would give anything and everything just to witness that ethereal smile once more. For Yoongi's love for his angel surpasses even his love for himself. All he yearns for is a glimpse of his beloved, a chance to confess his undying love, and the opportunity to hold him close and cherish him.
"When it's gone, you'll know what a gift love was. You'll suffer like this. So, go back and fight to keep it." These words, penned by Ian McEwan in his novel Enduring Love, resonate within Yoongi's heart. He refuses to surrender. He will seek out his angel, refusing to lose him now. He is prepared to undertake whatever risks lie ahead, even if it means venturing into uncharted territories. He will tread upon unfamiliar paths and embrace the unknown, for love's sake—even if the price to pay is his very own life.
The decision weighs heavily on Yoongi's mind. He knows the danger that awaits him beyond the safety of his garden. The human village, a labyrinth of noise, chaos, and unfamiliarity, holds countless perils for a creature like him. How will he navigate a world where lips move with words he cannot hear, where his own voice remains silent in the face of a tumultuous symphony?
Yoongi is acutely aware of the potential consequences. The risk of losing himself, of becoming lost amidst the human tide, threatens to engulf him. He knows that in his quest to find his angel, he may become further isolated, his inability to communicate exacerbating his already profound solitude.
Yet, the pain of his beloved's absence outweighs the fear of the unknown. The ache in his heart, the emptiness that consumes his every breath, propels him forward. Yoongi understands that the human village holds the answers he seeks, the whispers of his angel's whereabouts. It is a chance, however slim, to be reunited with the one who holds the key to his happiness.
He's ready to take the risk, to find the love of his life, his angel, his rose...
