(Sorry if I've missed anything)Rowan's POV
«»«»«»The weekend flew by in a blur and before I knew it, it was Monday and back to the dreaded place we call school. The only thing really getting me through was knowing that this was our last week until Christmas break.
The winter sun was beaming through gaps between the snowy clouds but the atmosphere was still pretty icy. Crowds of students were making their way up towards the large building that was stood amongst a slight fog, causing it to look even more intimidating than it already is. And there were a few smaller groups of kids stood around waiting for friends to arrive.
"Maddox will be picking you up tonight, alright?" Aaron said to me, pulling my attention away from a snowball fight that was happening on the school field.
"How come?" I pulled my backpack up from the footwell of the car and held it on my lap as Aaron drove slowly up to the school drop off point, being mindful as to not run any students over.
"I've got meetings all day up until late this afternoon and Finn's staying late at the yard."
"Okay. What's Hunter and Asher doing tonight?"
"Hunter will most likely be at work too and Asher...god knows where." Aaron sighed.
"Can't I walk home or get the bus with Victoria instead? It will save Maddox from having to drive in the snow."
"No." His answer was short and blunt.
Before I could protest, the ringtone of Aaron's phone filled the car and he quickly grabbed it out of his pants back pocket and shoved it into my hands.
"Put it on speaker, will you?" Aaron focused on parking up the car in one of the drop off points.
"It's Danny." I read the caller ID out before pressing the accept button and putting it on speaker.
"Aaron, You gotta get here quick.." Danny sounded as if he was running, his words coming out in big pants of breath, not giving Aaron or I a chance to even say hello. "There's some guys here..asking about-"
I'd never had anything snatched out of my hand so quickly before. Not even the time at the beach when my ice-cream was swept away by a seagull was as quick as Aaron just now stealing his phone back from me and immediately taking it off speaker.
"Danny, Danny.." Aaron's impatience was evident in his tone. "Calm down and tell me what's going on." My nosiness was not enjoying the fact that I couldn't quite hear Danny's side of the phone-call. "No-no from the beginning, what guys?"
I strained my hearing but only made out a few jumbled words from Danny's end. 'four guys', 'Finn' and 'yard'. Aaron caught my eye as he listened to whatever it was Danny was telling him, but I couldn't read his expression; his emotions were hidden by a blank facade. Although, his body language was much easier for me to read; his finger tapping rapidly against the steering wheel was enough for me to know that he was feeling whatever panic Danny was expressing on the other end of the line.
"Is Finn with you now?" Aaron asked him.
I just about caught Danny's reply again. "No, he's collecting bike parts across town."
