Rowan's POV
«»«»«»Despite this morning's clash with Melissa on the school drive and mine and Dallas' awkward run-in with Aaron before English class, my school day was going well.
No Melissa in any of my classes, shooting me daggers or breathing down my neck. I was actually getting work done and feeling good about it; excited to let Dad know on our next face-time call.
But lunch soon came around and I can't lie and say I wasn't even the littlest bit anxious about bumping into Melissa and her friends. But as soon as I spotted Victoria and Eva sat at our usual table, waving at me to sit with them, I felt more at ease.
"Hey." I breathed out.
"Hey Rowan." Eva smiled at me as I took a seat opposite my two friends. "How've your classes been without Melissa in them?"
"They've been good." I smiled back at her. "I've actually been able to get my work done."
Victoria snorted. "You actually managed to get your work done in English?"
"Yeah?" I quizzically frowned back at her. "Why?"
"You and Dallas wouldn't shut up the whole time. Mr Blakesley had to tell you guys like five times to do your work." She laughed.
I could feel my cheeks heating up as both Eva and Victoria smirked at eachother.
"We weren't that bad." I protested. "And fyi we still got all the work done." I muttered the last part of my sentence before taking a bite into my cheese panini.
"I heard my name." A voice behind me spoke out. Dallas.
"Speak of the Devil and he shall appear.." Victoria smirked up at the boy behind me, completely ignoring the glare that I was shooting towards her.
"Hey! I'm an angel." Dallas took the seat next to me, whilst Bradley sat opposite him.
"Who told you that? Your own mother?" Victoria questioned with a laugh.
"So what if she did?" Dallas playfully narrowed his eyes at her, to which she held her hands up in surrender. "Besides if anyone is a devil around here, it's Bradley."
We all turned our heads towards the boy sat next to Eva, who was stuffing his face with mac and cheese. Bradley really did take the word oblivious to a whole new level.
Upon feeling our stares on him, he looked up at us with pure innocence in his eyes. "What?" He said with his mouth filled with food.
"You're special." Victoria smiled sweetly at him.
He lightly patted his chest as he finally swallowed the mouthful. "Thanks Vic." He smiled back, once again, completely oblivious to my best friend's teasing tone.
"Hey." Dallas nudged me with his elbow before I could take another bite of my own food. "Snap, we both got the cheese panini." He held his up in front of me.
A giggle escaped from my lips as he knocked his panini against mine in a sort of 'cheers' motion.

Lunch was whizzing by swiftly. Eva and I were mentally preparing for our science lesson with Mrs.Winters and making sure we hadn't missed anything from the text book. We were going to be handing our essays in that we both worked on together over the weekend; I don't know why I was nervous to do so, but Mrs Winters unfortunately has that affect on us students. No matter what we do right, she will find at least one thing wrong with it.
