I was sleeping one morning while the rangers and training outside. Jayden came into my room and pulled the sheets off of me. "What?" I asked. "Rise and shine superstar." Jayden said. He always called me superstar, mostly to just joke around with me. I rolled over onto my side and buried my face in the pillow. "Don't make me do this Ariel." He said. "Go away." I said. Jayden picked up the glass of water that was on my bedside table and poured the whole thing on my head. "Hey!" I said annoyed as I looked at him. "Sorry, don't say I didn't warn you." Jayden said. "Fine, I'm up, okay? I'm up." I said. "The other rangers and I are training outside. How about you get dressed and meet us outside?" Jayden asked. "Okay, fine. I'll be right there." I said. That's the third time this month he's done that. It's getting old. I got dressed and went outside. When I got out there I saw my two best friends, Carly and Hannah. "What's up guys?" I asked. "Not much, we just have to talk to you about something." Carly said. "Okay." I said. We walked back into the house to have some privacy to talk. "Just so you know, this was John's call, not ours." Hannah said. John is the one that helps us with training and whatnot. "So, what's the plan?" I asked. "Halloween is coming up in a few weeks. He said that we should engage with the rangers activities and ambush them." Carly said. "Tell him that I'm not going through with this." I said. "Why not?" Hannah asked. "We're supposed to help people, especially kids. Ambushing the rangers is the last thing I want or need to think about." I said. "I know. Violence is not supposed to be our answer but it's still not an excuse for what they did to our ancestors." Hannah said. "I'm still not going through with it. I couldn't do it last time." I said. "Just wait until John hears that." Carly said before they left. I went back out and Jayden walked up to me. "Are you okay?" Jayden asked. "Yeah, I'm fine." I said. Before I could grab one of the wooden sticks for training Jayden stopped me. "Ariel, something is bothering you. What's going on?" Jayden asked. I wasn't sure if I should tell him about the ambush that my team is planning. I made eye contact with him. "Jayden, my team is planning to ambush you guys, the thing is, I want nothing to do with it." I said. "That's what is bothering you?" Jayden asked. "Yeah. I don't want to do it but on the other hand I can't let my team down." I said. "Don't worry, we'll come up with something to make sure that doesn't happen." Jayden said. Then the gap sensor goes off and my phone rings. "Jayden, you should go with the others. I have to take this call." I said. "Okay." Jayden said. He left with the others and I answered my phone. To my surprise, it was John. He's second in command on my team. "Hello?" I said. "Ariel! I don't care what you think about the plan, ok?! I need you and the girls to head to the stadium. That's where the rangers are now. The guys and I are going to add more stuff to the plan at the headquarters." John said. "John, we don't need war." I said "I don't care! Just go there now!" John said before hanging up. "Probably just as good as anything. I mean, girls do run the world." I said.

John has been really hard on me lately but I'm the leader. What am I supposed to do? "Maybe I can talk the girls out of it. For the guys, it might take longer. I just hope that I can get them to be allies." I thought to myself. I contacted the rest of the girls and we went to the stadium. We watched the rangers from the top of the stadium. I took a deep breath. "Are you okay?" Carly said. "Not really." I said. "What's wrong?" Bri said while facing me. I turned to face her. "It's just, we're supposed to make sure that none of the kids that are trick or treating get hurt or killed by nighloks on halloween. Not kill the samurai rangers." I said. "But the rangers might get in the way." Hannah said. "Whatever, I just can't do it." I said. "Why not?" Carly asked. I took a deep breath before answering. "It's a long story." I said. "Long story? Never thought I would hear you say that." Bri said. Then I saw the nighlok going back through the gap and the others didn't really notice until I pointed it out to them. "Look, the nighlok is going back into the gap." I said. "This is our chance. Let's go." Carly said. "Ready." They all said before morphing. "Halloween key activate! Link to morphing grid!" We all said to morph. The keys for our morphers look like the skeleton keys from wizard101. We jumped down from the top of the stadium and Jayden noticed us almost immediately. "You guys are the Halloween rangers." Jayden said. "You're right about that." Bri said. "What do you want from us?" Jayden asked. "For you to be gone." Hannah said. Then she launched an attack at Jayden and I got in front of Jayden and took the hit. "That's enough!" I shouted. The girls took at least two steps back. I collapsed onto the ground due to how strong the hit was. Jayden came up beside me. "Are you okay?" Jayden asked. "A little banged up from the hit." I said. Jayden helped me stand up. "Look at what their families did to ours!" Carly said. "Carly, that's enough!" Hannah said as she helped Jayden to help me stand up. "They killed our ancestors. My grandfather died because of them! Why should I trust them?" Carly said. "Carly, calm down. That was in the past. This is the present. You can't blame them for something they couldn't stop. I know how you feel." I said. "No you don't!" Carly said. She walked up to Jayden. I don't like it when people get close to him. "Get... away... from... my... brother!" I shouted as I went into my werewolf form. That's one thing about the Halloween rangers, they can turn into any scary Halloween creature, but it mostly depends on what they're spirit is like. "Ariel, calm down. I'm not going to do anything stupid." Carly said. Then John showed up and held me back from Carly. "Ariel, calm down now!" John said. I took a deep breath and turned back into myself. I turned and started to run away when Bri stopped me. "Ariel, wait. Do you know them?" Bri said. "Yeah, Jayden is my brother, and the rest of them are his friends." I said. "Why didn't you tell us this? We would have stopped." Carly said. "So, if I didn't know them then we would have gone ahead with the plan anyway! What difference does it make? They would still be the same kind people, even if I didn't know them!" I said. Everyone on my team was taken aback by my little outburst. I turned away from them and stormed off. "Where are you going sis?" Jayden asked. "Away from everyone!" I said. Then I took off running. I just want to be alone for right now. I couldn't take another minute there. If I stayed there for another minute I probably would've shut down. (Aka: Stonewalling or emotional detachment)
