I walked into the kitchen grabbing a cup and filling it up with water because I was thirsty. I gazed out of the window; everything was so dark... I didn't realise what time it was. I guess you can say I lost track of time. I have been losing track of time a lot lately, I thought. The trees swayed in the wind as I gazed out of the window. "It's time to go to bed, my dear." Said mum, quietly "Your brother is asleep."
"Mum... Stop treating me like I am eight, I am sixteen! Can't I stay up as long as I want now?!" I say, frustrated.
"Jesus, it's 4am and you still want to stay up? I've been awake literally all night because you have been walking around the house! No. You have to go to bed! It's school tomorrow!" Said my mother.
Annoyed, I stomp upstairs. My brother is asleep. I see my brother sleeping without a care in the world. I haven't slept peacefully for about a week. I keep having strange dreams. Or nightmares. My bedroom is red and orange. For some reason I have been drawn to the flames of fires, they are beautiful. When there isn't school I stay at home all day and paint pictures of flames which wander and dance all around, and leave nothing but ashes behind. I need to go to sleep, I thought. Maybe a few more pages of this book and then I'll sleep...
Everything went fuzzy and blurry as I drifted away into deep sleep.
I was in a dark room. Everything then lit up with fire everywhere, the flames flickering. I lift my hand and touch the flames. I wanted to wake up, I knew this was a dream. The flame felt soft and warm; but not too hot, no burning sensation. I was starting to panic and started breathing heavily. Why is this happening to me? The same dream. It won't stop. I hear a deep heavy voice in the distance echoing around: "I will find you."
I don't understand what this is, it has been happening for a week, this exact one, every night. I couldn't exactly do anything about it because it was just nightmares. This is getting seriously scary. I start screaming, asking and begging for this voice to tell me why he or even she wants to find me, I didn't give up I continued to ask repeatedly. No answer. No answer at all. I was left stood there in the darkness of my own dream thinking of why the hell they would want me. I'm an average sixteen year old. Unless this was all just a nightmare.
I need to get out of here. NOW. Everything faded into a deep shade of red and I woke up, sweating and breathing heavily. What do I do?
I am going insane.
