It all started on the day March 25th, when I graduated as a official police officer. When I officially graduated from police academy
I, who's name is Hwan Hayoon...
I stood proudly in the line with my colleagues who were about to graduate with the same title as me. Some higher, as those were standing first in line and us, around the middle
My best friend Dahyun and I stood next to each other excitedly, waiting for our names to be called. We studied and worked hard, spent so many nights awake studying just for this day and I could proudly say it was all worth it
We saluted to the general and main director of our academy, shouting our slogan. He started his speech, saying how proud he is to see us all gathered together again, give us our titles that we deserve that will help us with our job as we swore to help and protect people from all the evil and crimes in this world
After a long speech from both him and our director, we stood up again and I nodded to Dahyun
"This is it"
"We are officially graduating!"she gripped my arm "I still can't believe this is really happening. Pinch my arm if this is real"
I chuckled at her "It's real Dahyun, it's real. We are finally achieving our dreams"
One by one of our colleagues from academy was getting to the podium and two of them were going to where general and director stood, handing us badges of our titles and diplomas
I looked down at my blue uniform and straightened already straight jacket, patting the space where my badge will lay very soon
"Gosh, I'm so nervous"she whined "Hayoon, this is getting closer and closer"
"Yes!"I exclaimed "Hopefully we will apply to work in the same police station so we don't get separated"
She frowned, looking back at front where another row was moving. Five more and it will be our turn soon
"You know that's not up to us"she said "That's where they send us. All we do is send applications, you know how it goes"
I nodded sadly "I know, but I still hoped.."
"Who knows!"she shrugged "Maybe we do end up together! We might never know until we see each other!"
"Yah, Kim Dahyun!"I glared at her "You're talking as if we're not going to see each other ever again"
"Of course we will. I'm just saying we will be busy now because we don't know where we will be sent"
I nodded "Yeah, that too. That kinda scares me though. What if they send me to another city or-"
"They can't"she rolled her eyes "Because we graduated here in Seoul"
"Not yet"I looked at the podium "But if you move, you can apply. You have diploma and you have ability to get a job wherever you want"
Dahyun nodded and looked at me nervously "Hayoon, we will have to go there soon. And we will get that badge. And-"
"That's not to what you swore when you came"I tilted my hear "Fear? No place for it. No time for it. No thinking about it. Be brave, be confident, otherwise, as our teacher said...what the hell are you doing here then?"
I recitated his first sentence to us when we came to his class. She stared at me and nodded, turning on her right in 45°
"Fear? No time for it. This isn't a place or a time to be scared"she said to herself
"Exactly. So we will go there, give our oaths to this country, to our people, get that badges and then we can celebrate!"
She pressed her lips and furrowed her eyebrows, nodding "Yes. I'm about to give my oath to protect everyone! I can do this!"
