Hey, my sister is out atm, can we do the training thing again?
RedTippedTail1234
Isn't it quite late for you?
Q.uagsir.e
Yeah, but that's when its convenient for both of us
RedTippedTail
AlrightyWhy do I feel like this when I talk to him? It's exhilarating, like I'm running a torturous amount of miles, but my destination is somewhere I'll be happy.. and maybe... that's exactly what I'm doing.
"Hello?"
"Hi."
"Hey, hows the tanuki life been?"
"My sister thinks I'm a furry because I shifted in front of her accidentally, how's your day gone?"
"Uh, I'm fine. And.. sorry your sister thinks what?" Lexi tried to hide his small laughs by covering his mouth.
"It's not a laughing matter." Dauirmuid tried to use his "Let's not talk about this" face, but he grinned at the thought of being able to make Lexi smile.
"If that's not a laughing matter, I don't know what is." The two smiled at each other for a few seconds.
"Alrighty, stand up. Let's see your default form." They both stood up and backed away from their devices, Lexi seemed to gracefully dance into the shape of that handsome ninetails. Dauirmuid quickly shrank into what looked like a Faun, but instead of a goat-man he was a Racoon-man. His legs were now strangely bent and his tail could touch the floor, he now looked three quarters of the height he used to be. His arms were completely covered in fur, and his hands now nearly looked exactly like paws. His nose had begun to form a muzzle. He jumped at the sight of himself.
"Jesus Christ, I'm a mess."
"You'll survive, if you aren't hunted down by potato farmers first."
"Very funny."
"So.. you ready for me to tell you how to turn into different animals?"
"I've already done that."
"You have? When?"
"Long story, basically I just turned into a squirrel to escape some kids."
"Wow, you might just be more Yokai than you let on. Can you do it again?" Dauirmuid nodded, then turned himself into a squirrel again, this time he was the perfect height. And it was almost too easy to shift.
"Impressive, have you done this for any other animals?" Dauirmuid shook his head.
"Um.. you're already a small creature, try a ferret?" And he did exactly that, the ferret bounded up to his desk chair and onto the same level as the computer.
"Okay, uhh.. Cat?" Dauirmuid seemed to fade into a catlike form.
"Let's see a bird?" And he tried to turn into a robin, but instead fell backwards in the form of a raccoon, when he got up he was back to default.
"Alright, looks like you can only turn into so many creatures. Maybe the anatomy of a bird is too complicated for you right now." Dauirmuid nodded and got back into his seat.
"Let's see.. object-wise, what have you turned into?"
"Um.. yesterday I turned into a part of a sink at my college. And the same day I became a box."
"You've definitely been busy."
"Yeah."
"Try turning into something in your room?"
"Alright, hang on." And Dauirmuid looked around his room for a few seconds. Eventually turning himself into a pillow for half a second, then back to default.
"Oh, you okay?"
"I'm fine." He got up and walked back to the desk.
"Well, I think we've covered pretty much everything we can cover in one night. Tomorrow it will be much easier to transform for you since you're getting closer to becoming a Yokai."
"Yeah thanks.. uh, what happens if we can't get them to turn me back?"
"I feel like that was obvious."
"Yeah.."
"..you know? Being a yokai isn't terrible, over time you can start to gain control over your transformations, if that's what you're worried about."
"You don't understand. I know its not going well at the moment, but I have my whole life ahead of me. I can't really set all that aside because I'm some kind of ghost."
"I know, I really do."
"..."
"It's getting quite late in Ireland, you better get some sleep before tomorrow, it's gonna be a long day."
"..okay. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Sleep well."
"Thanks." And he hung up. Dauirmuid cupped his hand.. claw, over his mouth and smiled to himself as he fell backwards onto his bed.Dauirmuid had to be as careful as possible that day, there was much to be done. At three in the afternoon, while Kaitlyn was out, he started off with the note. She would definitely suspect something was up while he was away, so might as well explain.
Please read, Kayleigh
I'll be gone a day or two. Turns out I was cursed by some kind of ghost when I whent to Japan with dad and I'm off to fix it Had to leave early to get there as soon as possible so I couldn't tell you face to face
- DauirmuidIt was lazily written and short, but punctuation was the least of his problems. Dauirmuid left it on a dresser outside Kaitlyn's room.
Next he had to head down to the airport to wait for Lexi. But he wasn't sure when he would arrive, so it could be a few hours. He pulled on some clothes, but didn't check his default form, he knew he must look either horrifying or far too inhumane by now. He called a taxi to get down, it would take fifteen minutes to arrive. Heart racing, he walked downstairs and grabbed a hydroflask and filled it with water, and then he ran back upstairs and emptied a small bag to put some food and money into.
The taxi arrived and Dauirmuid almost leapt into the car, the driver seemed to be tired so he didn't bring up any conversation. The drive was awkwardly quiet, but he probably wouldn't be able to take any more noise than necessary.
Half an hour later they arrived at a tallish building on the outskirts of the city, Dauirmuid paid the driver. He sat down on a bench near the airport. Now for the wait.A few hours later, Dauirmuid took a walk around the town as he waited for Lexi. He didn't get to see Belfast very often, but it was quite calming for him. The cold autumn air helped wake him up, since he slept in a lot the previous night. He felt more ready for the journey ahead. But Lexi hadn't arrived yet, so he stopped at a fast food place and kept waiting.
Another hour later, Dauirmuid was sitting on a bench nearby, but Lexi was nowhere to be seen.
Maybe we were supposed to do this tomorrow?.. he began to think he'd made a mistake, then he checked his phone.
21:43.. she must have read the note by now, there's no going back. Dauirmuid looked to the sky, hoping to see an out of place seeming bird, or a silhouette of any sort at that. But all that stared back was the moon, big, bright and beautiful, not quite full though. As he felt his heart sinking, so did his head. But he got up, and started running toward the airport again, his lungs seemed to be full of an infinite amount of air, there was nothing stopping him.
