It was a bright sunny day; Bora was waiting outside for Ada to get ready. She was in the hair salon, doing the hair and nails, preparing for the night event, a colleague reunion after years. A special one.
"Ada? What are you doing? Aren't you done?" Bora was talking on the phone while loosening his tie with another hand. It was obvious from his tone that he is so tired of waiting under sunlight.
"I've been waiting for you Bora for almost 10 minutes! Where are you?"
'You little liar! 10 minutes?' he thought.
"Ada If you break an egg on the floor, it'll be naturally baked. I can see you're holding a bottle of water. Come on. "
" B-but where are you exactly? I can't see you Bora! " she asked while turning around.
" In front of you, turn around. I'm in front of you Ada." his shoulders slumped and he let out a deep sigh in disappointment.
"A lover tends to exaggerate everything in mind naturally. This is how people think about a person in love. That's why some lovers find confession very difficult . They hide their feelings, they feed that thought by adding new flavours to it. Every single song they listen to, every romantic story…"
He changed the radio channel immediately while driving the car. She wasn’t surprised by what he did and she didn't react. It wasn't his first time and his best friend Ada was well aware of it.
Meanwhile Bora was thinking about his plans, his future and his life.
"where are you exactly? I can't see you Bora." This sentence kept spinning in his head. It was like a card stabbing to his heart. Seemed like a simple sentence but it was way deeper. Deeper for him.
'She can't see me. She never did and she won't.'
"I hate Meltem but I only accompany you because I'm curious and I have other reasons ." She broke the silence.
"If I knew you're planning to impress Ertan, I would never tell you about Meltem's goodbye party." Bora said with a mischievous smile.
" No need to mention his name, I feel awkward."
"Oh really? I'm sorry Ada hanım*! Aren’t you the one who spilled the hot tea all over him! Is his name bothering you now ?"
"Hey, it was your idea! wasn't it? you told me if a man mentions having children in the first couple of dates, then spill whatever you have on him and I followed your trick !"
"But you made him almost unable to have children Ada" he started laughing while looking at her with his cute eyes that almost disappear when laughs. Ada couldn't help and she started laughing loudly too.
"My first date ruined because of your advice. I shouldn't have listened to you! inexperience old boy "
" Your date was ruined because of him mentioning that topic. Not because of my advice Ada. Also I'm an experienced handsome boy " He stole a glance at her.
"Do you think he will appear around tonight? " she started to get nervous.
"Believe me he can't walk! But no worries if he appears just hide behind my back" he reassured her with a cute wink.
They entered Meltem's house. The party was held in the garden. Ada was walking behind Bora while holding his coat and checking if Ertan is around there.
"Ad-da? what are you doing behind me?"
"Shhhh you said I can hide here. What is it now?"
He turned back and grabbed her arm making her walk beside him.
"Stop grabbing people's attention. If I see him I'll tell you to hide" he said with a fake smile.
" Ok" they locked arms and she smiled at him so brightly.
' She is shining…'
They reached a table and they saw Meltem from afar waving to them as a sign of welcoming since she was busy with the other guests at that time.
After greeting old classmates and two professors from their university that Meltem had invited, Ada and Bora were still waiting to see her in person and say congratulations to her.
Meltem seemed so happy that she is going to leave Turkey soon to study in Canada.
' Good for her.' He thought.
Bora saw a waiter handing glasses to guests and he picked two glasses for the two of them.
Before they took a sip from the glass Bora saw Meltem walking toward them.
" Look who is coming toward you" Bora whispered, enjoying her surprised look since he knew she hates Meltem.
" Please! can’t I drink in peace for god’s sake? " Ada rolled her eyes and left the glass without being able to taste it.
" Oh the misery, everybody wants to be my enemy" He started singing this song out of nowhere.
" Spare the sympathy, everybody wants to be my enemy"
She accompanied him with a slight head shake movement, pointing to him with index finger emphasising on the word ‘enemy’. They laughed out loud after proving the fact that they are drunk in front of their classmates, Without drinking any alcoholic drinks.
Even in the most inappropriate places and occasions they sing that verse. Something only between them.
People were watching them in surprise. They were dancing to another song and they found these two holding a private party in their own world together . But Ada and Bora didn't give a fuck to their reactions.
"Hello ?" Meltem was behind Ada and Bora and they didn't notice her.
"Oh Meltem you're here" Ada said and they turned back to her.
"Guys how are you? welcome to my goodbye party." They shook hands.
"Long time no see Ada." Meltem simply said.
"Long time no see Meltem! You look so happy; How did you end up leaving here ?" Ada asked, showing how curious she is about the details.
Bora's eyes widened in surprise. He didn’t expect Ada asking her this question. Because when Meltem starts talking she never drops the smallest details and nobody can stop her.
"Do you know that my aunts are living there right?" Meltem started to show off.
'Why do you ask this question with passion Ada? Are you insane? ' Ada thought. She regretted what she did right after Meltem started talking.
