obviously you tried keeping in touch with her but as the both of you became busier with your individual careers, you two eventually drifted apart. you becoming a freelance photographer and twice was getting that much more famous. you two just had the occasional conversation here and there but you couldn't do anything about it. you wanted to pursue your dreams even further just like nayeon and if you didn't, you would feel like you weren't deserving of her. of the person she was.

you initially rejected the idea but even with the constant absence of her in your life, you still had that piece of your heart missing.

was it because you missed a dear friend or did it go deeper than that? was it the way she made you feel? not just as a friend but as something more?

when you two had finally had the free time to, nayeon out of the blue invited you to that same café the two of you bumped into each other at.

"do you remember this place y/n?" she asked, "just around the corner is where we first met."

you nodded your head as you perched your head up on your hand, looking out the window, "how could i forget? meeting you was a once in a life-time moment."

she took a sip from her cup of coffee before asking you something, "what do you think of me y/n?"

you kept your head straight as your eyes made their way over to her, "what do you mean?"

"how do i make you feel?"

"what's up with the questions?"

"just answer please."

you were caught off guard from her sudden assertiveness. "uh... you're a nice person. i love hanging out with-."

"no... that wasn't the question. how do i make you feel?"

you felt tiny under the immense pressure she was putting you under. her gaze was razor sharp. "you... make me feel safe i guess."

"that's it...?"

the disappointment in her voice was... confusing to say the least. what was she expecting you to say?

noticing your confusion, she continued without skipping a beat, "because you make me feel a lot more than just safe y/n. you're my safe haven. you're the person i come to first before anyone. i can be myself only with you."

"nay? why are you telling me all of this?"

"i love you y/n." she blurted out.

"what?" you asked as you began processing what she said. your jaw slowly dropped as you looked at her directly in her faltering eyes. "nayeon... i... don't know what to say."

"fuck..." she muttered as she tore her gaze away, obviously frustrated with herself, "don't say anything. just forget about it."

she slid back her chair as she stood up, "i'm sorry i ever said anything. let's just keep being friends, okay?" she walked away, not waiting for even a single sound from you.

you quickly stood up, knocking over your chair and ran behind her. before she could leave through the door, you grabbed her hand and tugged it, just like she did so many years ago. she looked back at you with eyes getting more red as she looked at you.

"what do you want y/n? please let me go."

"no. its my turn to say something"

she reluctantly turned around fully to face you and stared down at how your hands were connected.

"i'm not sure on how i feel nay. really. but i know that i definitely see you more than just a friend."

she hesitated to say anything, "what are you saying?"

"let's try. try this thing between us. whatever it may be."
