I woke up next to Susie. I couldn't remember why I was here, or what was happening. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, trying to rack my brain for answers. Then I remembered the night with 'The Legion' and chuckled softly to myself, realizing that Frank must've brought me up here. I got up and slowly crept my way out of her room. After nimbly making my way downstairs, I grabbed my knife off the reception desk and headed for the main entrance. I planned to go out to explore.
I jumped -- startled -- as I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to hit them. It was Frank, and I hit him pretty good in his shoulder. He chuckled and shook his head slightly.
"You still got it," he said, laughing a bit more, "Anyway, where do you think you're going all alone?"
I scoffed and hit him again, "None of your beeswax."
"Awe, c'mon (N/N), I just wanna protect you," I felt a sudden surge of depression wave over me at being called that. It had brought back a newly recovered memory of my dead mother - I still couldn't remember what she'd looked like, but I remembered that she had called me that long ago.
"Don't ever call me that again," I said, folding my arms, while trying not to sound upset. "But fine, you can come."
I could just imagine the smirk he had under that mask of his. "Whatever you say, feisty," he patted me on the head, "Anyway, let's get to the clearing and I'll let you know where you can and can't go."
Before we could reach the entrance gates, spider-like appendages descended from the sky and carried us to the clearing, the other three appearing not long after. The two girls groaned and rubbed the sleep from their eyes. All of our masks and weapons dropped on the dirt clearing not too far from us.
"Damn it..." Frank sighed, "Guess the entity called upon the map."
"What does that mean?" I asked.
"Means that a new trial is taking place at Mount Ormond and the entity kicked us out to the cabins."
"Oh..." I walked off from the group, "I'm gonna go explore the place then."
Frank pulled me back and I fell into him. "Do you have a death wish (N/N)?" he asked.
I kicked him in his shin, "I told you not to call me that!"
"You'll thank me later."
"YoU'lL tHaNk Me LaTeR," I said in a mocking voice, "Shut the fuck up."
He scoffed at my comment, while everyone else laughed. He picked me up and I started kicking and flailing my limbs while yelling at him. Eventually, I found myself on his shoulders as we went down a path leading to another gate. A sign above the gate read Autohaven; we walked in. As we were walking, I could have sworn we were being followed. As I looked to my left and then to the right all I saw were broken down cars and an old weathered shack with a giant sign glowing. The letters on the sign spelled out Gas Heaven in bright orange and yellow lights. As I was marveling at the sight, Frank suddenly broke into a sprint. I held on for dear life as we sped against the wind.
I looked behind us and couldn't see anything. I couldn't comprehend why Frank was running until I heard a bell and saw a figure begin to materialize out of, seemingly, nowhere. I let out a startled yell and clung tighter to Frank.
"What is that thing?" I yelled out.
"That's Wraith," Frank responded, "And he doesn't really like me!"
"Then why the fuck did you bring me here?" I wanted to hit him, but I knew now wasn't the time.
"Because he's never really here!" He quieted down and slowed a bit, "He's always in his cabin or a trial."
He slowed to a walking pace and set me down on a rock. I got up and looked around again. Despite being a junk yard, the place was oddly beautiful to me. Then I heard the bell again. It was far away, but close enough to make me jump. Frank grabbed my hand and ran with me across the map. It was extremely hard to keep up with him, and I tripped a lot.
We eventually reached a locker and he shoved me inside. He pressed his body closely to mine and covered my mouth with one of his hands. I felt my stomach knot up and my chest flutter. He was looking out the slits in the locker and I was grateful he couldn't see my probably cherry red face.
"Alright, I think he's gone" Frank whispered.
Frank shifted to face me and I averted my eyes. His breath was warm and heavy against my skin. I felt myself tense as he removed his hand from over my mouth. This all felt so wrong, but I liked it all too much to want it to end. I looked up and met his gaze, and we stayed like that for a while. His eyes were like deep pools of dark amber. I couldn't find it in me to look away.
He started to lean in and met my lips. I shifted so that my arms were draped over his shoulders and kissed him back. It all was happening so fast, and it was hard to process. His tongue was pressed against mine and the air in the locker became tense. He shifted his leg slightly and it allowed me to feel the tension between his legs. I felt my body quake and I was afraid to give into temptation. He pulled away from me, yet a string of saliva still connected us. We shared stares for a while, heavily breathing.
"We should go," Frank finally said.
