Halloween event

Rhaenyra left you reluctantly when she could no longer put off taking a turn about the room to appease the people who were attending the special private party for the harvest festival. Performers were due any minute and Alicent had left to help the king announce them.

Damon had promised that he would come and stand with you while the performers were performing as you and Rhaenyra had snuck out of your rooms the night before to see them practising and had been caught when you'd been so frightened of them that you screamed and alarmed the guards. When Rhaenyra had filled him in over breakfast, Daemon had been so amused that he had choked on his drink. Alicent had given him the most seething look that he had quickly made his promise to remove her glare from him as she glared long enough for the food on her fork to fall back onto her plate. Rhaenyra seemed quite pleased as she didn't want to abandon you to perform her duties if you needed her.

The King announced the performers and Alicent took her seat beside him. Rhaenyra was still speaking to the people gathered around her and you had to stand perfectly still while trying not to turn heel and run.

Towards the end of the performance, Daemon emerged with several men around him. They laughed and whooped as they made their way through the crowd. Daemon split off and approached you.

"You're late! The clowns already scared me. I want to go home." You said as he leaned in to say something to you.

"I am most sorry." He said though he sounded rather amused.

"They have an encore. I just wish I could go and sit down." You muttered. When you jumped as one of the dancers and clowns made their way past you. Damon quickly stepped forward to be sure he could jump in front of you. "You gave your word you would be here. You promised Rhaenyra!" You scolded.

Daemon chuckled and said nothing for a moment. Each time the performers got close enough that he could see you were getting scared he pulled you a little further back or glared at them until they moved on to another part of the room. By the time they finished, he'd pulled you to the back of the crowd and stood you on a stool so you could still see, an arm gently clutched in his hand to be sure that you wouldn't fall.

"That is all for tonight!" One of the performers shouted. You let out a relieved sigh and Daemon helped you climb down.

"Will that be all you need from your guard?" Daemon asked. You could tell he was joking from the way he smiled and ducked his head so no one else heard. You could also tell that if you said no he would stay right where he was.

"Would you wait just a moment? Please. Until they leave?" you asked. Damon nodded and he stayed right by your side until the performers had been sent off for food and their payment. Then he took you off across the room and delivered you to Rhaenyra who scolded him for being late all the while affectionately patting the back of your hand as if you had become deliriously upset and giving you sympathetic looks.

"I shall be sure to be on time for the festivities tomorrow." Daemon assured you as he bowed and left you with Rhaenyra who really wasn't upset that he'd been let but a little put out that he'd not fulfilled his word. True to his word this time Daemon was on time. In fact, he knocked on the door to your rooms at the crack of dawn. Your waiting-maid had been quite ruffled that he was at your door unattended before you were even awake and sent him to wait down the hall.
