Highly highly recommend this song, and it kinda goes with this chapter but it's also just a good song.

Fawn's POV

The morning came faster than I hoped it would.

Red "sunlight" seeped through the ragged blinds covering the dusty, crack filled windows.

My eyes didn't want to open, but I forced them to anyway because I knew I needed to get up and face the day.

Day two in hell.

It was a hard battle peeling myself out of the comfortable bed, but the promise of a warm meal in the back of my mind was what motivated me to get my ass in gear.

So, I got myself up and dressed in the same simple outfit that I fell down here in. It was a little dusty, but not tattered or gross, thankfully.

Once I was clothed I set out to find the kitchen or dining room in this place. It was surprisingly quiet in the hallways of this hotel...almost eerie.

I felt like I was walking through an abandoned building.

Though, at least I wasn't fighting anyone to get onto the elevator, which was a lot more prim and polished than everything else. The ride down was smooth, too.

So far I haven't seen anyone else...then again, the only person I really interacted with was Charlie and the cat demon. Is there even anyone else here...?

My simple tennis shoes took me quietly across the lobby, and I finally got a chance to actually look around at everything.

The lobby has the same decrepit feeling as everything else...though, it seemed to be clean at least.

There were many pictures on the walls and I took a second to look at them.

Some contained Charlie, others didn't.

All of them had a man and a woman in it that seemed to be important, and the man looked almost identical to Charlie. It was easy enough to assume they're her parents.

With that thought in mind, I abandoned the pictures and went elsewhere. There wasn't much else to look at, just cracks in the walls and stains on the floor.

It was starting to be a little frustrating that no one was around, but my frustrations were short lived because I finally noticed an open doorway that had a light, accompanied with distant clattering. A smell entered my nose that told me it was the kitchen, and whatever it was smelled amazing.

My brain directed me towards the smell, and I didn't fight it. Food sounded great.

When I entered, there was the sound of pans clanking and music playing. Music that sounded like it was from the 1920s.

My heart lifted at the familiar noise, and the smell mixed with the music gave me a feeling of comfort...along with a longing for home.

When I spotted the culprit, it wasn't who I was expecting... it was a very small demon, and she was running around quickly, tending to every single pot and pan. Her speed was intense, and when she noticed me standing by the door way she called out to me.

"Breakfast is almost ready, please wait!"

That voice sounds so familiar...why does that voice sound familiar?

When I didn't move, the woman slowed and turned towards me, seemingly unable to sit still as she bounced over to me.

"Ma'am, do you need—"

She stopped speaking mid sentence and we stared at each other. Her mouth dropped open and one large eye stared up at me. Something tightened in my chest, and I didn't realize I was holding my breath.
