As she stared down at the oven, she started the think about things she could make that would at least be edible, which was about nothing. Then she thought of the best thing she could to fix this problem. Stall them.
"Uhm, I don't know what any of you like. I'm not trying to be difficult, I just don't want to make something and half of you not like it." She said, with an innocent smile.
Everyone looked towards each other then back to Kenzie.
"Well, whoever's cooking normally chooses two people to say what they want, and we vote on the options" Cruz said, looking around.
Kenzie looked around at everyone in the kitchen. Not trying to decide who to pick on, but trying to stall as long as possible without raising suspicion. Then she said the first two names that came to her head.
"Errr.... Gabby, and Severide." She said, attempting to make it sound like she was having trouble trying to decide.
The choices were spaghetti, or Gabby shows her how to make a traditional Dominican dish. As everyone took a vote Kenzie prayed to god that the majority chose the Dominican food, as she could half the blame when something inevitably went wrong.
"It's half and half. Someone hasn't voted." Brett said, as she looked around the room.
"I thought it was only you guys who voted." Kenzie piped up, truthfully.
"Are you gonna eat it?" Gabby asked half sarcastically.
"Yeah..." Kenzie answered sceptically
"Then you get a vote on what you eat." Gabby said, as if she was stating the obvious.
"Oh. Well, I vote for learning how to make a traditional Dominican dish. Sorry, Severide." She said with a sympathetic but excited smile.
As everyone went back to what they were doing, Kenzie turned around to see Gabby taking all different things out from the cupboards and fridge. As she did, Kenzie started to feel more and more unsure of herself, like she was out of place. Wrong. She'd much rather be doing, quite literally, anything else. Suddenly she felt a tap to the shoulder.
"You don't know what your doing, do you?" Gabby whispered in her ear.
For a second, Kenzie was shocked that Gabby could tell. Was she really that crap at hiding what she was thinking? Then she confirmed what Gabby had asked.
"Nope." She whispered back, then walked away and grabbed a pan as to not raise suspicion to anyone else in the room. Then she slapped it in her hands twice and put it down.
"Pan." She stated, with a proud smile.
"I can see that. We need a pot, though." Gabby told her, shattering the smile.
Kenzie picked up the pan, and put it back where she got it from. Then she looked about in the cupboard for a pot. She picked up a pot and pulled it from the back of the cupboard, which made a loud crash that sent a ringing through her ears.
She pulled the pot out of the cupboard and put it on the floor, then she messed around with all the crockery in cupboard trying to quickly reorganise everything, then she felt the cupboard shut on her arms, and the door being slightly forced on her arms.
"Do it after dinner." Gabby said as she closed the cupboard, and picked up the pot on the floor.
Kenzie grabbed the counter in front of her and used it to pull herself up off the floor, then walked over to Gabby who gave her a knife.
"I need you to peel and chop the carrots." Gabby said, as she pointed to the chopping board to the left side of the oven.
Kenzie walked over to the chopping board and put down a carrot. She cut off the bottom and top of it, then she dug the knife into the carrot and forced the knife downwards. Then the carrot fell apart.
