two months. valerie had been together with her favorite person in the entire world for two whole months.
valerie picked out ripped, baggy jeans and a green crop top out of her closet, getting dressed before staring at herself in the mirror. she had already done her makeup, and only had less than ten minutes before ashtray would be at her house to pick her up.
they had decided on a more proper date, than the last one. valerie was very indecisive, so she practically forced ashtray into picking where they would go. and ashtray only decided, because he remembered something she had told him not too long ago.
a wish she had, and he was going to make her wish come true.
she took a deep breathe, spraying herself with her favorite perfume and putting on deodorant, before grabbing a simple black zip up jacket incase she needed it.
she put on her converse that she wore anytime she wasn't wearing her black crocs, and dusted herself off before unlocking her phone, and looking at herself through her phone camera, even though she had just looked at herself through the body mirror she had in her room.
finally being okay with how she looked, she grabbed ashtrays present, hiding under her jacket so he didn't see it, and made her way out of her room, and into her living room so she could inform her mom that she was leaving, and saying bye to her dad that she passed on the way.
doing all that in just enough time, she heard a honk outside and quickly said an 'i love you' to both her parents and ran out of her door.
she smiled at both ashtray and fezco as she settled in the back seat, greeting them with a simple 'hi.'
fez responded to her with a smile, and ashtray looked her up and down before responding 'yo' like he always does.
ashtray thought she looked pretty. he always did, she always looked pretty to him, even if she was crying or sleeping, she was beautiful. he never told her thought that though, he'd just casually complement her here and there.
valerie wondered where ashtray could've picked, due to the sun about to set and not many places were open. but she didn't ask, she liked the feeling of getting a surprise, so she wanted this to be one.
instead, she sparked a conversation with fezco to fill the silence. "so, how are you and lexi, fez?"
fezco chuckled, he always found it sweet how she would ask about him, even if they were talking about her. "we're good, kid."
she smiled, happy to hear that. "you take her on a date yet?"
again, fezco smiled. "not yet."
"pussy." ashtray mumbled, causing fezco to turn to him with a deadpanned look, making valerie laugh.
feeling the car start to slow, she raised her head from looking at her phone. a huge smile formed on her lips as she saw water ahead of her, he remembered. she thought to herself.
the little things, is what valerie enjoyed most.
the car came to a stop, and valerie and ashtray got out, valerie waving bye to fezco and thanking him and ashtray telling him to be safe with a nod gesture as 'bye.'
valerie grinned, "you fucking softie." she gently punched his arm.
he rolled his eyes, "shut up."
she smiled, linking their arms and letting ashtray lead her to wherever.
she counted her steps on the sand, watching as the sand would move and fly around as she stepped. finally, ashtray stopped and she looked up.
ashtray un-linked their arms to take off the backpack he had on that he always carried with him, and valerie watched him curiously. her eyebrows raised as she saw him take out a small, thin blanket and lay it on the sand.
though, a laugh escaped her mouth when she saw him pull out two candles, along with his favorite chips, hot cheetos, and hers, funyuns.
it wasn't funny, she actually found it very cute, she just never expected it from ashtray.
ashtray looked up at her after setting the candles on each side of the blanket, "if you don't shut your ass up, imma call fez to turn around."
she shook her head, "it's cute! just.. unexpected."
"yeah, you're lucky." ashtray joked.
she rolled her eyes, before looking at the view in front of her. she thought it looked perfect, a place not too far away from the water, surprisingly the candles were staying lit and somehow, so simple, it was beautiful to her.
she sat her jacket down on the blanket, leaving the present she made him under it.
ashtray sat down after valerie, and she laid her head down on his shoulder with a breath. again, the beach was quiet, although there was a family not too far away from them, you could only hear muffled laughs, followed by waves crashing.
her eyes moved from the family, and to the sky that had a beautiful sunset. her wish. she thought, and smile again.
she grabbed her phone from her back pocket, taking a picture of the sky and then forcing ashtray take a picture after. she sat her phone back down, grabbing onto ashtrays hand. "i love this." she whispered, and ashtray just nodded.
he felt like he had completed something. he remembered her exact words, when the two were laying on his bed, half asleep and she told him what she wished.
'i wish, sometime in the future, i can watch the sunset on a beach. like a date, nothing too fancy, just watch it. candles, snacks, it seems like it would be so fun.'
after a while of silence, other than ashtray chewing, after opening the bag on hot cheetos, the sun had finally set and they were left with an almost black sky.
valerie raised her head up, pulling her present from under her jacket and turned to ashtray.
she put her hand out, showing him. "i wrote you this."
ashtrays eyes landed on it. a love letter. he stared at it for a second, almost processing it, before laughing. "i knew you were the type of girl to like love letters."
valerie rolled her eyes, although a small smile planted on her lips due to hearing his laugh. "anyway, here. don't read it now, though." she handed it to him.
he took it from her hold, seeing the square shaped envelope with a drawn on heart. he bit as hit bottom lip to hold back the smile that was trying to form on his lips, and carefully put it in the small pocket of his back pack.
once he was done, he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him, making her feel warmer under the cool breeze.
"i love you." she spoke softly, playing with the sand.
"i love you too, ma." he kissed her head.
