The red droplets slid down the wall, the pieces of glass flying down and resting on the floor. A disgruntled Cordelia let out another shriek before wildly turning to Richter, her venom green eyes practically glowing in the shadows.
"Was throwing a wine glass really necessary?" he asked, a look of distaste on his face.
"Of course it was. I hate it when Karl spends time around other women. Am I not enough for him?" the purple-haired woman responded, her rage palpable in her tone.
"You made the decision when you married him, Cordelia. You must have been aware that he would have his eye on other women if you did not agree to have children with him."
"What?!" Cordelia's rage dissipated as she tidied up her wild locks and fixed her eyes on Richter. "Richter darling, you are single, right?"
"Yes... Where are you going with this?"
"I want you to romance that woman and marry her," Cordelia requested, placing her hands upon his chest and coyly smiling up at him.
"Excuse me, but why would I do something like that?"
"I can help you onto the throne. You do want that, don't you?" Cordelia leaned up to press her lips against the shell of his ear before whispering, "You do love me, don't you?"
"If she is in love with Karl, what do you say that I should do about that?"
"Well, you are next in line for the throne. It would not seem suspicious if you and her were to get into an arranged marriage. I mean, she is the daughter of a very affluent family."

With that, their plans were set into motion. Within six months, you and Richter were married, and you had settled yourself into the solitary life at his mansion. Though you had tried to make the best out of your situation, it was made abundantly clear that Richter harbored no feelings towards you and that the servants were instructed to not interact with you.
The only thing that seemed to be the highlight of your married life was the visits that Karlheinz made every other month. Despite the meetings only lasting two hours at the very most, you and him had somehow managed to foster a closer relationship. You had even begun to form romantic feelings towards the man, which you were more than certain were not reciprocated...
---
One night, you were awoken by a sharp tap against the glass panes of one of your windows. Startled, you shot up and directed your eyes toward the windows, trying to search for the source of the abrupt noise. Another tap soon followed as you moved from your canopy bed, sinking your feet into the plush carpet. Cautiously stepping toward the window, you drew the black curtains aside and found that Karlheinz was waiting outside. You hurriedly opened the window, ignoring the bitingly cold air that nipped at your bare arms.
"Goodness, you could have just come through the front door!" you exclaimed, eyebrows shooting up as you stepped out of the way to let Karlheinz into your bedroom. "Richter would not have hesitated to let you in."
"I'm sure that he would not have let me step a foot into this house if he knew what I came for," Karlheinz stated, unclasping his cloak and setting it across a chair.
As unfamiliar as the situation was, you couldn't help but feel yourself admiring his appearance. It was absolutely no wonder how he was already married-
That's right. He's married, so he couldn't possibly be in love with me, you tried to tell yourself, your cheeks heating up in embarrassment when you realized that Karlheinz was staring at you expectantly.
