Hello there! I'm so glad you decided to stop by and check out this madly chaotic story of mine.
Now, if you're like me, you probably took one look at this story and either went "oh, it's just another OC x Cannon Character story, it can't be that good," or possibly "oh hey look, a Ninth Doctor story, that's rare," or possibly even "who the hell is this author??"
No worries, this is why I've included this little bit before we get into the ideas behind 9: A Story Forgotten. If you haven't been able to tell already, I am a massive Doctor Who fan, and have been for most of my life. DW in particular has been absolutely amazing in making me appreciate the relationships between characters, and yearn after "what ifs" in cannon lore. And this book is the product of a "what if" I had after watching The Day of the Doctor.
More in particular, I had always wondered what exactly had happened after The War Doctor regenerated at the end of TDoD, and if Nine had any adventures between then and when he blew up the shop where Rose Tyler worked before whisking her away on their adventures.
And that was when this story was born. The forgotten companion of the Doctor, the one who brought him out of the darkness of the Time War and paved the way for him to find love later on down the line. I'm not actually sure how long Echo and Nine knew each other, but it was long enough for them to form a lasting friendship and imprint on him the importance of love and belonging.
Now, if OC x CC isn't your thing, I get it. To be fair, it's never been my thing either (I'm a firm CC x CC shipper in almost every fandom) This story never goes beyond light angst, mostly from Nine trying to figure out what's going on in his brain, so this story is rated G in every good way possible. HOWEVER, that does not mean there won't be tears and heartbreak and emotional drainage, so fair warning on that. I try to stick to cannon as much as possible, or at least compliment it well. If you've read my unfinished Trek story, (aka A Rip in the Continuum,) you might even recognize the name Echo, and if you do, yes, she is the same character. Spoilers ;)
By the way, the song linked at the top of this chapter is my theme song for them, and I think The Paradox describes them perfectly, and really sets the mood for the rest of the story. I'm currently working on a playlist for this book, I will link it here when it's done, for both Spotify and YouTube Music.
And with that, I hope you enjoy this story! I will probably work on revising it more down the line, and always feel free to offer advice on whatever. It makes my day when I see a Wattpad notification pop up on my screen because someone commented or liked one of my stories. Let me know if you'd like to see more Echo x Doctor interactions, (I was thinking a Echo x Twelve oneshot might be in order someday,) and any ideas you'd like to see in future stories! Until then, thanks for being ✨fantastic✨ as always.
