As I sat in study hall tapping my pencil against the desk, I tried desperately not to notice him staring at me. I tried to focus on my book, but gave up when I realized I had to reread a sentence 14 times without gaining any meaning from it. So I looked up, two tables down and met his warm silver eyes. I wasn't aware before last night that silver could be a warm color. When Draco noticed me staring back a small smile grew on his lips and his eyes changed from warm to a heated and intense gaze. I shivered involuntarily and it definitely wasn't because of the draft blowing in the open door...

As the bell rang, students flood into the hallway in a stampede, carrying me along with them. Draco caught up quickly and wrapped an arm around my waist. Before he could lean in and kiss me in front of about 40 people, I pulled away.

"Too soon." I murmered, panicked. He raised an eyebrow at me, but nodded.

"Alright, Hermione." he said, then extended his elbow towards me like a gentleman in an old movie. "May I escourt you to class?"

I smile and take his arm.

"You may."

Draco led me to my next class with a smile on his face, I was suprised that he was being so cool about this. Draco Malfoy was known around the entire school and all surounding cities as the 'Slytherin Sex God', I figured he would have abandoned me on the spot or at least got a little angry, but he was a complete gentleman about it. At the entrance to my ancient runes classroom, I stopped and turned to him before going inside.

"I just...I haven't...I don't know how to...uh...I just..." I wanted to crawl under the floorboards and die. "I...I just can't...and I don't know if you were expecting..." Shut up you idiot!

"Hermione" Draco said, capturing my attention, saving me from further humiliating myself. He took ahold of both my hands, forcing me to look him in the eye. "I've been waiting for you for five years."

I gasped internally, he had liked me for all that time?

He reached over and tickled my nose with a strand of my hair before tucking it back into the rest.

"If you need slow, I can do slow." he murmered, leaning in to kiss me with a gentleness that I didn't know he was capable of, before he let me go and walked off down the hallway with a brief goodbye smile.

Holy Merlin, I melted.

Dracos POV

I couldn't believe myself, I had practically suggested that we take things slow, I had never taken a relationship slow in my life, if a girl wasn't ready to give me what I wanted, I would grow bored and move on to another one. I never forced them or got angry with them, I wasn't cruel. I simply didn't see a point in having a relationship that didn't involve sex, probably because I had never been in a relationship where I actually felt anything towards a girl, besides desire. I mean I had plenty of desire directed towards Hermione, but there was something else, something that made me want to stick around and be whatever she needed me to be.

"You seem awfully happy." Pansy murmered. "I've never seen you like this, you kissed her didn't you?"

"Maybe"

....

"Seriously, you gotta stop smiling Draco, Its freaking me out."

"Sorry" I smile.

I wait for Hermione outside her class, absolutely thrilled to see her again. That woman had cast a spell on me and I was hoplessly crazy about her. Finally I spotted her coming out the door, and my excitment disapeared when I saw who was with her. October was grinning casually by her side, as if he belonged there. Before I got the chance to get her attention, October made eye contact with me, a clear challenge. May the best man win. Then he leaned down and kissed her...and I wasn't there anymore. I was down the hall, down the stairs, across the grounds, anywhere, but there. On my way, I run almost headlong into Pansy.
