It had been a whirlwind of a week for Danny Phantom and his new circle of heroes. After Odin's "little visit," Spider-Man discovered that Norman Osborn was the one who had sicced Doc Ock on him and Danny. But the plan had backfired—Ock double-crossed Osborn and turned him into the Green Goblin. The chaos left the Helicarrier in ruins and the team essentially homeless. Luckily, Peter had Aunt May's big heart to rely on. She let Ava, Danny R., Luke, and Sam move in alongside Peter. The house was crowded, but somehow it worked. The only real complication so far was Peter catching Aunt May doing yoga stretches with Sam in the living room.

For Danny, however, the struggle wasn't cramped hallways or awkward housemates. It was ghosts from his past—humankind. Seeing his old classmates around town, passing Tucker without speaking, catching sight of his sister Jazz trying and failing to reconnect... all of it made Danny feel like he was thirteen again: raw, cornered, and terrified. And then there was Mr. Lancer. The day the teacher arrived at Vlad's home, Danny had been upstairs when he heard the shouting. "Canceling the trip?!" Lancer's voice rattled the walls. "This is your doing, Masters—no doubt thanks to that boy!"

Vlad tried to keep calm. "My son had nothing to do with your—"

"Son?" Lancer spat the word like venom. "That boy is nothing but a fraud. A spoiled, good-for-nothing brat who—"

He didn't finish.

Loki, who had been quietly listening from the doorway, snapped. His fist connected with Lancer's jaw with a sharp crack, sending the teacher stumbling back with a black eye forming. The Asgardian's voice thundered, a terrifying echo of Odin's, "No one speaks of our child that way. Not while I draw breath."

Lancer fled, muttering curses under his breath, but the fear in his eyes betrayed him.

"You didn't have to do that," Vlad muttered, though there was no real reprimand in his tone.

"I did," Loki replied firmly, steel in his voice. "Daniel is ours. And I will not let anyone—man or god—tear him down." He sealed the statement with a kiss against Vlad's lips, tender and defiant all at once.

Despite their differences, despite how unconventional their little family might appear, Vlad, Loki, and Danny had grown into something whole. Something real. But the illusion of safety was shattered the day Vlad opened the letter. He went pale instantly, hands trembling as he reread the signature at the bottom. Jack and Maddie Fenton. Released from prison. Coming to New York. Coming for Danny. Vlad's breath hitched, and he immediately sought Loki. Together, in hushed voices in the kitchen, they spoke of the danger. "They'll try to take him," Vlad whispered, his eyes burning with fear.

"Over my dead body," Loki swore, his grip tightening on Vlad's arm.

"Danny can't know," Vlad insisted. "Not yet. He's fragile enough already..."

But the very next day, fate brought the truth crashing down. At Midtown High, students screamed and fled the halls. Danny froze at the sound of a voice he knew all too well—his father's booming call. "Danny-boy! Where are ya, son?"

Jack and Maddie Fenton stood in the school lobby, anti-ghost weapons slung over their shoulders like trophies. The ringing in Danny's ears drowned out everything else. His chest constricted. His hands shook. He couldn't breathe. Panic, heavy and suffocating, swallowed him whole. Peter noticed instantly. Without hesitation, he grabbed Danny's wrist and pulled him down the hall, shielding him from sight. He got Danny into the nurse's office, whispering grounding words as Danny struggled through another panic attack. The Fentons never even saw him. Coulson, quick on his feet, had them escorted out by the police. But the damage was done.

All day, Danny twitched at shadows, flinched at lockers slamming, and scanned every hallway before walking through. Peter did what he could, but it was like trying to hold back the tide. When the final bell rang, Danny bolted for home, desperate for safety. But it was waiting for him. The Fenton RV. Parked right outside the school gates. Danny's heart plummeted. He turned and ran in the opposite direction before they could spot him. By the time he reached home, his legs burned, his lungs ached, and his mind was screaming. He locked himself in his room, curling against the bed, praying they wouldn't find him.
