The place of celebration was a club named Moonlight. It was that kind of high-maintenance place, but I am not surprised since Hannah chose it. I don't mind hanging out here, though. It looks dope. Neon lights everywhere, two bars stashed with the best choices of alcohol, excellent bartenders with their fancy uniforms...it all worked together perfectly.

When we got there, all guests were already there, and it was plenty of them. She invited like forty people, and I knew only ten of them.

"Billie!" she squealed happily when she saw us giving our coats to the coat check guy. She ran to me and wrapped her tiny hands around my shoulders.

"Oh, I am so happy that you made it!" she measured me with her look, not saying anything because, of course, no one was supposed to be better looking than her, obviously, but she smiled and stroked my shoulders. "And looked at your plus one." The empathy from her voice was gone suddenly when she spotted Xavier. He smiled as needy as he could, then hugged her without touching her. I didn't think that was possible until now, but yes, it is.

"Hello, Hannah. Long time no see. Wonderful place, and you look fantastic." I swear he just said that like he was shooting some commercial. But she smiled and looked back at me.

"Anyway, we are sitting here," she pointed at big boxes next to the mirror, "the food station is over there, and please feel welcome to drink anything you want from both our bars. I will be back in a minute, but I have to say hi to some important people so..." did I said she is a good friend of mine? Never mind.

"If she didn't say all those things before that, I would leave," Xavier said sourly, and I nodded.

"Just ignore that. We are here to have a good time, right?"

"Yeah. Drink?" he said with a smirk and handed me some shot from a silver plate.

"Sure." I took it and drank it like it was water. Fiery water. I felt the nervousness leaving my body, and I took another one from Xavier's hand.

"We are going to be down until that bitch returns." He said, and I burst into laughter. I scanned the whole place to see who was there. I saw some handsome guys, some strangers, and then I spotted a group of girls I knew.

"Come. I'll introduce you to some chicks. You need that."

"I would not say no to that." We drank another one, and then we made our way to them.

"Hi there," I said, a little too brave, but I guess it was alcohol-speaking.

"Billie, hi!" they were happy to see me there since we lost touch after growing up. I haven't seen them for probably three or four years, but we still had plenty of stuff to discuss. I introduced Xavier to them, and they all said he was a good choice for plus one. Of course, they liked him. He is the kind of guy who tells you a joke, then compliments, then another joke or compliment, and it goes like this till you find yourself in his bad.

It wasn't my case, but I know him.

After an hour, we took a break and ate some food because we took a high road with drinks.

"Man, those girls are hot."

"You had three glasses of champagne, six tequila shots, and three sexes on the beaches. Everyone is hot after that." I said and stuffed my mouth with some posh food.

"I don't even know what this is, but it's fucking delicious." He said with a full mouth, and I burst into laughter again. Two drunken idiots. And it's not even midnight.

"You made your decision yet?" I raised my eyebrows, not knowing what is he talking about.
"About what?"

"About the phone call?" he reminded me, but I didn't need that. It's all I can think about, and to be honest, alcohol doesn't help me to resist that. I stayed quiet for a second, and then I smiled.
