"Shouldn't you answer your phone?" Elena asked as Brea's phone rang for the eighth time.
"No, it's just Damon," Brea replied as they walked out of Ric's room in the hospital. They'd brought him in as a precaution, just in case the ring didn't heal him completely like the last time. To avoid suspicion they had told the doctor he had fallen down the stairs and bumped his head.
"Brea! Answer it! Tell him about Ric."
"No way. I'm not talking to him, you can call him and tell him yourself if you'd like," Brea scoffed.
"Why aren't you guys talking? Besides, he's not answering my calls," Elena grumbled and Brea turned to look at her sister, eyebrows raised.
"Seriously?" Brea scoffed. "Did you hit your head tonight or something?" she asked and Elena tilted her head confused. "Did you forget about the whole coffin fiasco?"
"No, but I thought you forgave us for that?"
"What!" Brea almost laughed. "Elena, are you serious or delusional? I said I understand why you felt you had to keep them from me. That doesn't mean I forgive anyone for it. I said I understand, but that still doesn't make it ok or forgivable," Brea snapped as she stomped towards Matt who was waiting.
"How's Mr Saltzman?" Matt asked the twins.
"Well, he's not the one with short-term memory loss, so he's got that going for him," Brea said glaring at Elena.
Elena sighed sadly at her sister before answering Matt. "He's resigned to spending the night in observation. So long as we promise to change the lock on the house," Elena said as they started walking down the corridor towards the car. "Have either of you talked to Caroline?"
"Yeah," Matt said. "I called her while I was waiting for you two, she's holding it together considering how close she and her dad used to be. Any word on who's behind all these attacks?"
"No. Sheriff Forbes said that there's no real suspects at all," Elena explained as they walked out the exit. "Brea, come on, please answer your phone," Elena pleaded.
"No," Brea said declining the call again. "Whatever he has to say it can wait till morning when I'm feeling slightly more pleasant."
"How are you dealing with everything?" Elena asked Matt. "I mean you keep getting dragged into all this."
"Honestly? I'm kind of lucky," Matt responded. "The only thing that I have to worry about for tomorrow is showing up for my shift at the Grill."
"Thank you for everything today," Elena said to Matt. "Really."
"Yeah, would've been really hard to carry Ric down the stairs without you," Brea smiled, shoving his arm.
"Get home safe. Brea, you going with Elena or coming with me?" he asked.
Brea turned to look at her sister who was fidgeting. She didn't want to ask, but she was obviously nervous to go home alone. "Urgh, I'll go with Elena. I don't want her to be in the house alone after everything," Brea groaned.
"Thank you," Elena said quietly.
"Alright, I'll catch you tomorrow," Matt said wrapping his arm around the back of Brea's neck and pulling her in to kiss her forehead before releasing her and walking off to his car.
"Thanks for coming with me," Elena said as they walked to her car.
"Save it. Elena, seriously. I don't want you in our house alone after what just happened, doesn't mean I want to hold hands and skip just yet," Brea snapped, opening the car door and getting in.
