After that seven minutes, Keif's (love) life had changed and I was back to where I started - to square one.
It was the happiest seven minutes of his high school life while it was my loneliest.
It was the seven minutes that completed his heart while it was the one that broke mine.
It was the seven minutes that answered all his questions while it was the seven minutes that caused a lot of my what-ifs.
If I could have that seven minutes back, I would...
The phone alarm rings. It's morning already. Keif has sent a good morning message and before I can reply, he video calls. This kid is impatient as always.
"Good morningggg~" Keif greets in his energetic voice as his aloof cat struggles to release itself from the hands of its perky master.
"Hey Ace, are you awake now?
"No, I'm still sleeping." Keif pouts at my sarcastic response while the cat successfully releases itself and lies down in the background.
"What's up?"
"Are you still mad at me? About the other night?" His bright grin turned into a shy smirk, his eyes occasionally looking away from me. This is Keif's expression when he is guilty of something.
"Tell me why I shouldn't be mad at you."
"Because I'm your best friend and you can't stand to be mad at me." Touché. While it's true that I can't stay mad at him, the "best friend" part adds insult to the injury. I'm "best-friend-zoned" once again.
"I'm gonna hang up.." I jokingly turn off my phone cam.
"Wait wait wait. Okay, tell me what I can do to make up with you. Just forgive me. Okay?"
"Anything?"
"Yes, anything as long as I can do it."
"Okay, today is gonna be my day. You will follow everything I say. How about that?"
"Yes sir!"
"You're my slave for today."
"Yes master!"
"Brace yourself."
I may not be able to get those seven minutes back but I can do something now.
