Keif and I have known each other since 3rd grade. We were neighbors back then and went to the same school. His dad passed away when he was 16, a year before he and Amanda became an item. When we entered college, his mom was transferred to Japan for work. They decided for Keif to stay here to finish his studies. Since then, he's been living on his own. Aside from me and his ex, there's no one he can lean on since his relatives live too far away from him. It became a habit for us to check on each other because he treats me like a brother.
I also need to monitor him especially tonight because he's with Emma. The girl shows interest in him and I can feel that she's seducing Keif. After what he's been through with Amanda, I can't bear to see his heart broken again by another girl. And I admit, part of my apprehension (of him being with Emma) is jealousy and longing. I miss him. I miss our times together. I miss our bond. I miss us.
It's 3:36 AM and I fell asleep for a couple of hours. I immediately check my phone and Keif is offline now. His IG stories are last updated 3 hrs ago with Emma's photo in the last story. I message him on his social media and via SMS but he does not reply or even see my messages. I try to call him but to no avail. I am starting to worry because Keif isn't the type to not respond unless he's too drunk to do so. I start calling Tom from Stratus to check if he's with Keif since the boys ride with him that night. Tom says Keif asked to be left in the bar and told Tom that he would just message me to pick him up. I start panicking because Keif hasn't messaged me yet.
I go to the bar he went to and Keif isn't there. I even ask the bartenders and security personnel if they saw him, showing them his pic. The security staff saw him leaving the bar with a girl. I figure that the girl he's with is Emma.
I then proceed to his condo to check if he's home. I have a duplicate key to his unit (with his knowledge and consent) in case of emergency. I enter the unit and he's not there. I'm thinking of reporting a missing person to the police but after careful thought, it's just been 4 hours since Keif is "missing" and the police can't do anything until after 24 hours. This might even cause embarrassment on Keif's part.
So I decide to wait for him...like I always do.
