Star Light 1#: A Zodiac Story (Discontinued)

Chapter 1: "T & D"

     We were all sitting around in the living room that connected the Zodiac Houses, all staring at the ceiling and being bored. The day was immensely hot, and the air conditioner was the only thing keeping us from a heat stroke, though made us twelve zodiacs extremely bored. Taurus is sitting next to Scorpio, practically asleep on his shoulder. Scorpio was watching her carefully. What a creep, I cringed. Gemini and Libra were talking in a corner, though Gem did enough talking for the both of them. Cancer and Pisces were standing and discussing something about flowers or something just as uninteresting. Leo and Sagittarius had their legs up against the walls, their hair spilling out beneath them. Virgo and Capricorn are quiet, surveying the room and checking for trouble like special police officers. Aquarius sat on the floor next to me, his arms supporting his weight as he leaned back and collapsed.

     "So... hot..." Aquarius panted. He lay flopped on the ground as though he were a fish out of water, his blue hair parading across the floor like a waterfall. Several of the others, including me, nodded in agreement. Gemini then brightened distinctively. She grinned.

     I could see where this was headed. "What, Gem?" I groaned as she started bursting with excitement, though I couldn't see anything exciting happening here. I pushed the dark red hair that fell in front of my eyes away from my face and gave Gemini an meaningfully exasperated look. She ignored it. Rude.

     "We should play truth or dare!" Gemini announced the way she said most things. Gem stands up, sending her pastel hair flying in all directions. A few perk up with interest, but most of the other zodiacs I can see are holding back a sigh like they knew this was coming.

     Libra cocks her head, causing her shadow to look like someone had broken something. I see Scorpio gleefully distorting and changing the shadow into multiple silly poses. "What's truth or dare?" She askes innocently, ignoring all the grumbling from the other Zodiacs and trying to encourage Gemini. I sigh. Libra might be nice, but she sure is oblivious to a lot of things.

     Uh-oh, big mistake. Gemini immediately gets on a rampage trying to describe the rules of truth or dare, but she's saying it so fast that the words are tumbling over each other and Libra looks more bewildered than understanding. Holy crap, Gemini can talk a whole lot of something about a whole lot of nothing. But, miraculously, Libra takes it all in like Gemini had spoken clearly and nodded. Lucky, all I heard was gibberish. 

     Reluctantly, everyone else agreed. "Its better than being stuck being bored inside?" Pisces suggests, trying to lighten the mood. Cancer nods vigorously beside Pisces, a hairbreadth smaller than him, I notice. It works, and now even Scorpio looks slightly interested. Gemini, on the other hand, is bouncing in delight with Libra at her side trying to convince Gem to settle down.

     Sagittarius suddenly launches herself up, causing Leo to tumble, and immediately tries to take over. "We should go in order," she insists, turning towards me. "That means that you'll start, Aries." She gives me a smug look, no doubt sensing my discomfort. Her golden eye that wasn't covered by an eyepatch gleamed at me meaningfully, and she knows that I know that everyone is waiting for my decision. I sigh. You're so annoying, Sagi! I think hotly.

     I can't help it, I cave to all the expectant looks. "Fine, yeah, just get it over with," I grumble, bracing myself for the worst. Now both Sagittarius and Gemini are bouncing on their toes, golden pastel and dark strands dancing around them, and making Libra even more panicked as she fought to keep them both calm. I watch with amusement, at least glad that my friends were happy about this. Leo strolls over to my side as I stand up, like he was pretending that he totally didn't fall off the wall, if that was possible.
