I woke up that morning with a aching headache. It was almost afternoon when I finally got up, I suppose my medication knocked me out like a light.
I sighed sitting up on my bed, examining my still empty room.

Evenually I stumble my way downstairs to our kitchen for a cup of coffee. It was cold in the house, chills up my spin and goosebumps poking through my clothes.
After making my coffee and I around to find some type of thermostat..

The front door was open, cracked open about a foot. No wonder it's so cold. I stepped forward towards the door before second guessing myself. I'm in Haddonfield..the town full of murder and the door to the house is open.

"Hello?" I yelled throught the house, all I heard back was my own echo. I sighed before making my way to the door once again, right as I was about to close it a foot stepped inside sending me flying back. I jumped and screamed-

Aunt: "Hey! What you screaming for??" she yells entering the doorway wearing her dirt covered overalls and gloves.

I held my heart, sighing of relief...

Y/N: "Nothing- you just startled me is all" I gulped.

She laughed before throwing me the keys to the car

Aunt: "How about you go to the store for me get some food and necessities sleepy head" she chuckled to herself as she left back out the door

Alright well new mission I guess. Go to the store.

_________

This store was huge compared to our small town market back home. Currently I was in the grain isle looking for some breakfast food for the house.
Lots of options unlike at home where we only had off brand cereals.

I stumbled upon a cereal that caught my eye. A cereal I hadn't seen in over 5 years- I thought it was discontinued.
I picked up the box, and felt a chill run down my spine as I remembered back when...

I remembered I was sitting at the dinner table, having cereal for supper. My dad had just gotten home from god knows where. He held a bottle of old whiskey in his hand, like usual.

I remembered feeling nauseous, and uncomfortable- afraid. I remembered him setting his bottle down on the counter. I remember he started massaging my shoulders..

I quickly snapped myself out of that nightmare and back into reality. I scoffed and tossed the cereal back onto the shelf before making my way to check out.

I remembered- I forgot to take my medicine this morning.

I now waited in the check out line up front. There was a large window showing out to the parking lot, the clouds looked dark and it started to get foggy. Rain was coming..
The cashier went item by item scanning the products. I watched outside as the clouds moved in. I loved the rain, and right now watching as the clouds rolled in made me smile.
As I stared outside I eventually found my car parked out in the parking lot- but with a man leaning against it...
It was hard to describe him, but it freaked me out.

I gathered the groceries quickly and ran out to the car, but by the time I got there the man was gone. I huffed, frustratingly. "Whatever" I mumbled before packing the bags in the back.
On the way home I was lost in my thoughts then suddenly I was pulled into our driveway. I rubbed my eyes before grabbing the keys and stepping out of the car.
I opened the trunk and began to grab my groceries.

"Need some help?" I hear a deep voice say behind me. I turned around to find a man. Brown curly hair and scruffy beard, he wore a brown leather looking jacket and jeans.

Y/N: "Appreciate the offer, but no thank you" I muttered before starting to walk my bags inside-

"So you're new in town?" he says.
I sighed, I wouldn't find an escape from this conversation.

Y/N: "Yeah, I'm Y/N" I said, setting my bags down on the porch and raising my hand out to shake.

"Corey" he smiled, and shook my hand.

His smile was cute, and I couldn't help but notice that.

Y/N: "Corey huh..are you a neighbor around here?" I questioned.

Corey: "Uh yeah sorta..in the neighborhood" he nodded, still having a slight grin on his face.

I don't know what got into me during this moment but it just came out..

Y/N: "Well...Corey, I hope to see you around more. It'd be nice to see a smile like yours on the block sometime" I grinned, and I could see his cheek fill with a blush.

Corey: "Well, maybe you will" he says in a charming- yet mysterious raspy voice as he started walking down the sidewalk again.

I knew I wouldn't get our interaction out of my mind for a while..

Maybe Haddonfield wouldn't be as bad as I thought..

_________

POV: Corey

It's been a while since I've had a somewhat normal conversation with someone..
I liked it.
Made me feel..myself again.

I knew I shouldn't have said anything to her..
and I know I most definitely shouldn't stick around to see her again,
but she didn't know me or who I was or...

Or what I did..

She could be my cure
