When everyone had left the great hall and gone to bed, Dumbledore went to his office. Once there he made his way to the sorting hat that was sitting on top of a cabinet.

"Headmaster, there is something I need to discuss with you about one of the new students."
"Yes I too wish to discuss this said student. Y/n Silverlight correct?." It seemed the hat wanted to talk about the student they were both thinking of.
"Yes... When I was placed on his head... I... I felt a strong magical power within him and it was overwhelming for me. But t-that's not what worried me..." the hat looked as if it were trembling.
"What worries you?" Dumbledore asked, now even more curious about the silver eyed boy.
"When I was placed back on... the magical presence seemed to be less intense than before but somehow just as strong to give me some discomfort, also it felt...like I was being watched." The hat explained it's experience to the Headmaster.
"Curious? I find it interesting that you were able to enter his mind and I was not." Dumbledore started earning a surprised look from that hat. How could THE Dumbledore not be able to enter Silverlight's mind when the hat could!?
"Is there anything else?" He asked.
For a moment the hat looked conflicted as if he wasn't sure if he should tell him what he saw within the boy's memories. Not that he could anyway because he was under a magical oath to never reveal the secrets of the wearer. Instead decided to tell him about the grey figure.
"Just one, when I was inside the boy's mind I was having trouble trying to place him in one of the houses and was about to ask you for assistance when I saw something or more like... someone?"
"I did not see anything or anyone else within the halls at the time."
"I was under the impression that this was one of the castle ghosts. However this one seemed to not attract anyone's attention. For some reason only I was able to see him."
