What would you give to experience the foreign? To bathe in the forbidden? To take risks? To have freedom?

River always wondered what was outside the safety of Barren Falls. The sheltered woman was bound and determined to find out. Fuck the rules. Fuck everyone that thought they could continue to tell her what to do. She would find her freedom. She would grasp at it desperately as she struggled to find her footing, the pavement slick with blood. Her's? Friend? Foe? She'd struggle to breathe as she fought with all her might to show everyone how wrong they were.

Would she find freedom? What danger would she find lurking in the shadows? What happens when she trusts the wrong person? When sweet Alice wondering through Wonderland becomes the delicate rabbit? And what happens when she runs into a woman trying to save her?

Valeera is woman of infinite but guarded curiosity. Not quick to trust, she only dives in after observing the pool, but submerge she will.She trusts actions and patterns more than words. Experiencing life in the dark beside the man who saved her. She travels the land as he carries word from kingdom to kingdom. She feels as though her life is missing something. Is it excitement? Adventure? Love? Perhaps it's all of the above.

What will Val do when she stumbles upon the all too trusting River? Can Val save her? What will their relationship become? And what will happen when they fall into the wrong hands? Who will save them then?

The Vampire world flourishes where the humans struggle to survive. Decades ago, a culling took place, making the Vampires lose trust in the humans. The humans learned to fear the Vampires, keeping their distance as they learned to live in poverty.

Even within the royal family of the humans, their wealth doesn't stop them from famine and plagues. This is why marriages are arranged, trying to strength the bloodline, as well as the assets of the family.

The culling changed everything. Humans once used science to stand atop the vampires. But power comes with a price, one known as greed. Now, even the simplest of technology is scarce.

Communication is primarily done via messengers and ambassadors. They travel between the lands, keeping secrets as leverage as they do so. One man's secret is another man's blackmail. Information is more precious than rubies.

Even more surprising, to some, is the flesh trade. Vampires still prefer the taste of warm vitality. While some humans are willing to bare their neck, even working within the kingdoms, not everyone is. The ugly truth is: flesh sells. Whether it's for sex, breeding, blood, or even killing, humans are in high demand within the blackmarket.

How will the two women fair in their journey? Will they find what their looking for? Or will they become lost in the darkness? Read to find out the fate of River and Valeera.
