Eivor had been up since dawn, she could not sleep because one thought kept turning in her head: Today she would get her school supplies.

She was excited and nervous at the same time. Synin had left after Eivor had kept on wandering around in the small home, irritating the Raven

Eivor had put on her best clothes, which were a pair of dark pants and a light blue wool tunic shirt with her bear fur shoulder top . Her dirty blond/brown hair she tied into a side braid and finally, she wore the only necklace she owned: a silver coin with norse ruins on a cored rope that her father gifted her when she was 7.

She packed her brown bag as well, which she slung over her left shoulder and then sat down on her bed. Eivor could hear the animals starting to wake up, but her stomach was a tight knot.

She fidgeted with the strap of her bag. Was Professor McGonagall coming in the morning? Or the afternoon?

And how? By car?

Not very likely as she lives in the woods.

That question answered itself when there was a knock at the door. Eivor had to suppress the urge to run to the door when she saw Professor McGonagall, in black robes this time.

"Are you ready?", Professor McGonagall asked.

Eivor nodded enthusiastically.

The corners of the older woman's mouth tipped slightly upward in amusement before she turned and left the cabin through the front door, Eivor following quickly.

They walked past the porch onto the path. A loud, distressed cawing caused Eivor to look up. Synin was flying above her head, obviously worried that she would not come back.

Synin landed on Eivors shoulder, despite Professor McGonagall standing right next to her. The Raven gripped the strap of Eivor's bag, intending to go wherever the little girl was going.

Eivor looked up and her face turned pink.

"Can Synin come?", she asked nervously.

Professor McGonagall pinched her lips together. This just added to the questions she had about this strange girl. But Miss Varinsdottir was about to enter a new world, on her own, so Professor McGonagall decided it would be best to let the bird accompany them.

"Very well", she answered and eyed the bird carefully. "But your bird will probably not like our way of transportation." Professor McGonagall led them into the woods a ways, before taking out her wand.

Eivor stared at it, amazed, while Synin just kept on sitting quietly on her shoulder. Professor McGonagall extended her right arm.

"Hold on tightly", she instructed and Eivor cautiously reached out her left hand to clasp the black robe. A moment later she got terribly dizzy and the world disappeared.

Eivor staggered and would have fallen over if it weren't for Professor McGonagall's steady grip on her arm. The ground seemed to sway beneath her feet, making her feel like she was a sailor on the high seas.

Her nausea started to subside after a few minutes and Eivor breathed in deeply until the world stopped spinning. Synin had fallen off her shoulder and was laying on the ground, her  chest rapidly rising and falling.

"Synin!", Eivor cried out and carefully scooped up the raven with her hands. The raven squeaked pitifully and covered her head with a black wing.

"She'll be fine", Professor McGonagall said in a calming tone. "Apparition has different effects on animals than it does on humans."
