It was something he never thought would happen when he first heard of a soulmate. Thanks to Makino, he never could have dreamed that he'd meet someone he would love, care for and treasure more than his promise to shanks or his dream.
Someone who would complete him, as Makino put it, a soul mate is someone you could never dream of losing, someone you would do anything to protect and someone who would help you and complete you like an anchor, a ship you would never be able to to have one go so far without the other to help him.
It was during the two years he accepted that she was always there. He was not complete without her. He didn't feel happy without her by his side, and most importantly, he couldn't help but cry whenever she came to mind because he felt responsible. He felt like he failed her, but after he decided to get stronger, he was motivated to be stronger not only for his dream and his crew but so he could guarantee that he would never lose her again, his treasure, his navigator, his queen, his Nami
Miles away in the clouds, his soulmate was lying on the bed in a nice house that the old men allowed her to use while she stayed for2 years. She was thinking of a similar thing, something she only thought happened in the fairy tails that Bellmear used to read to her and Nojiko before she would go to sleep.
She chuckled to herself, realising the saying was true you don't know what you have till you lose it. She remembers the nights of crying into her pillow when she read the news, unaware of her new treasures' safety, some she could trust with her life while leading him to fight a god, a saviour, her hero and captain.
She couldn't help but smile at how dumb she was. Maybe if she had looked a bit harder, she would have realised before she lost him that everything they did together that stuck with her seemed as if it was all from a cheesy yet beautiful fairy tail where the captured princess is freed and happy with a man she would gladly call her treasure, her captain, her king, her Luffy.
